West Coast vs Carlton Betting Tips
Optus Stadium, Sunday 10th July, 4:40pm AEST
West Coast
Injuries: Oscar Allen, Campbell Chesser, Tom Cole, Hugh Dixon, Luke Edwards, Tom Joyce, Zac Langdon, Jeremy McGovern, Dom Sheed, Elliot Yeo
West Coast have welcomed back a few of their more experienced players over the last couple of weeks, but they’re still without a few of their very best. Jeremy McGovern, Dom Sheed, Oscar Allen and Elliot Yeo are all in their best 10 players and all are unavailable for different reasons.
The Eagles finally snapped their big losing streak with a win over the Bombers at home a fortnight ago but were unable to go on with it against the Tigers last weekend. They certainly didn’t play poorly in their most recent outing, although the lack of continuity for some of their banged-up stars was certainly evident throughout. It’s been a tough season overall for the Eagles and they’ll certainly be looking forward to freshening up over the off-season.
Carlton
Injuries: Jordan Boyd, David Cunningham, Ed Curnow, Sam Durdin, Lachie Fogarty, Caleb Marchbank, Jack Martin, Oscar McDonald, Mitch McGovern, Matt Owies, Luke Parks, Sam Philp, Marc Pittonet, Zac Williams
Carlton have an injury list that continues to grow by the week at the worst time of the season. Zac Williams, Jack Martin and Mitch McGovern are all important players who are unavailable to play. One big positive this week is the return of Jacob Weitering who’s recovered from an injured shoulder.
The Blues have traded wins and losses over the last five weeks (2W, 3L) and their spot in the top eight has come under threat as a result. Their most recent loss against the Saints was their most disappointing in recent weeks and was one that they’ll be looking to respond from in a big way. Regardless, it’s been a fantastic resurgence from the young Blues this season and they’ll be confident they can make some noise in the finals should they make it.
Match Prediction
It’s no surprise the Eagles have been putting in some better performances now that they have the majority of their key players back in the side. However, their lack of fitness and cohesiveness makes it very difficult for them to play good footy over four quarters and we saw that against the Tigers last weekend. Meanwhile, this is a must-win game for the Blues if they’re to have any chance of making the top four and I think they’ll bring the required intensity to get the job done and cover the small spread.

Jake Waterman has put together a serious month of footy and has taken 35 marks over his last four matches, kicking four goals during that same stretch. He remains really good odds to kick at least one here.
Jake Waterman Anytime Goal Scorer, $1.70 with Ladbrokes
Brady Hough has had a solid first year in the system and played one of his better games last weekend. He had 20 touches and 10 marks and a lot of those came in the back half which is a good sign going forward. I like him for 15+ again.
Brady Hough 15+ Disposals, $1.72 with Ladbrokes
Jesse Motlop had the best match of his young career last weekend with three goals in a losing effort against the Saints. He has the perfect opportunity to have another big game against an Eagles outfit that has conceded the second most goals this season.
Jesse Motlop 2+ Goals, $3.40 with Ladbrokes
