Hawthorn vs Adelaide Betting Tips
Marvel Stadium, Sunday 10th July, 3:20pm AEST
Hawthorn
Injuries: Tyler Brockman, Connor Downie, Sam Frost, Max Lynch, Seamus Mitchell, Chad Wingard, James Worpel
James Worpel’s horror run with form and injury continued last weekend when he dislocated his shoulder early in the first half. He’s set to miss a chunk of footy and will join important players in Sam Frost and Chad Wingard on the sidelines.
The Hawks started the season well and were exceeding expectations with wins against high quality opponents; however, they’ve completely lost their way over the last couple of months with losses in nine of their last 10 outings. Last weekend they were unable to match it with the Giants in horrific conditions in Sydney. There have still been some good signs overall for the Hawks this season, with Jai Newcombe dominating in the midfield and James Sicily playing at an All-Australian level in his first season back from an ACL injury.
Adelaide
Injuries: Luke Brown, Shane McAdam, Ned McHenry, Josh Rachele, Paul Seedsman, Rory Sloane
Rory Sloane and Paul Seedsman are key outs for the Crows and both will miss the remainder of the season. Young gun Josh Rachele is also out this weekend, as is dangerous forward in Shane McAdam.
The Crows form over the last month doesn’t look that bad at first glance, but both of their wins during that stretch came against the bottom two sides in the competition. In saying that, they put up a decent enough fight against the reigning premiers at home last weekend when going down by 29 points. Overall, it’s been another tough season for the rebuilding Crows, although they have unveiled a couple of stars of the future, particularly in high draft pick Josh Rachele.
Match Prediction
The Hawks have lost five in a row and nine of their last 10 which makes them one of the worst form teams in the competition. The Crows haven’t been a whole lot better during that stretch but do at least have three wins to their name. On top of that, the Crows have won two of their last three meetings with the Hawks and still covered the +9.5 spread in the one they lost. With everything considered, I’m happy to take them to cover spread on this occasion.

Prop Bets
CJ is having another impressive season in defence for the Hawks and is always a great choice to throw in your SGM’s for 15+ disposals. He’s reached that mark in each of his last four matches and looks good value again here.
Changkuoth Jiath 15+ Disposals, $1.62 with Ladbrokes
A bit of a speculative one here. Thilthorpe has struggled in his second season in the system but is starting to put together some consecutive matches in the seniors. He’s kicked a goal in each of his last two matches and will have a big size advantage against the smaller Hawthorn defence this weekend.
Riley Thilthorpe 2+ Goals, $3 with Ladbrokes
Taylor Walker continues to age like a fine wine and is enjoying a strong season individually. He’s kicked 12 goals from his last four matches and should get plenty of looks at the big sticks in what should be a high-scoring affair.
Taylor Walker 3+ Goals, $1.98 with Ladbrokes
