Brisbane vs GWS Betting Tips
Gabba, Saturday 28th May, 1.45pm (AEST)
Brisbane
Injuries: Joe Daniher, Kai Lohnmann (Out) Hugh McCluggage, Dan McStay (Test)
The Lions have been without a few key forwards in Daniher and McStay for a few weeks but could get the latter back from injury this week given he passes a fitness test. Other than those two and Hugh McCluggage, the Lions don’t have many injury concerns at the moment.
The Lions suffered a shock upset at the hands of the Hawks on the weekend. They still sit in 2nd place on the AFL ladder but now have a few teams breathing down their neck and their status as the clear 2nd best team in the league is now in some doubt. They will no doubt be more comfortable back at the Gabba this week, where they have won 13 of their last 14 games.
The Lions have been the highest scoring team in the competition so far this season and the only team in the league averaging over 100 points per game at 106.5.
GWS
Injuries: Jack Buckley, Finn Callaghan, Brent Daniels, Phil Davis, Jacob Hopper, Daniel Lloyd, Tim Taranto (Out) Lachie Whitfield (Test)
The Giants are much more hampered by injuries than their opponents heading into their Round 11 clash. They will still be without key players in the likes of Phil Davis, Jacob Hopper, Brent Daniels and Tim Taranton while Lachie Whitfield will need to pass a fitness test to play. Check out the full AFL Injury List for more info.
The Giants snapped a two game losing streak with a comfortable win over the Eagles on the weekend. With the win, they move to 3-7 on the season and currently sit in 14th place on the AFL ladder. They have looked more competitive since Toby Greene came back into the lineup but ultimately haven’t been able to get the desired results
Bright lights on the season have been the form of young midfielder Tom Greene, who has been the driving force through the middle of the ground for the Giants. Kicking a winning score has been the biggest issue for the Giants. They currently sit in 13th place in the league for points scored per game.
Match Prediction
The Lions were shaky down in Tasmania against the Hawks last week but back at the Gabba on Saturday, they should be far too strong for the Giants. The Giants have lost their last two games at the Gabba by an average margin of 58 points while the Lions have won their last last three there by an average margin of 63.3 points.
I like the fact that the Lions were beaten last week because it adds a bit of extra value for them on Saturday. Back them to have a big win.
Prop Bets
Zac Bailey has flipped between midfield and forward time this season but one thing that is clear is that he enjoys playing at the Gabba much more than on the road. He averages 20.0 touches per game at the Gabba this season compared to just 15.2 on the road. Big value play for him to have at least 22 on Saturday.
Zac Bailey 22+ Disposals ($2.90 at Bet Right)
Josh Kelly has had 30+ touches in four of his last six games and in the two where he failed to do so, he still managed to rack up 27 and 29. Is in great accumulating form at the moment and still presents good odds for 30+ on Saturday.
