Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets

Game 1 of the NBA Finals went exactly like most experts expected. The Nuggets came away with an 11-point win, which just saw our bet salute.
The Heat had just come off an exhausting seven-game series against the Celtics and if that isn’t draining enough, playing at extreme altitude in Denver a couple of days later certainly is.
The Heat looked gassed in the first half and quickly fell behind by 20+ points, before making a push at the start of the fourth quarter, although the damage was already done and the Nuggets came away with a comfortable win.
Nikola Jokic didn’t have to get out of first gear and is an absolute matchup nightmare for the undersized Heat. The 2x MVP finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists.
Jamal Murray was fantastic as well with 26 points and 10 assists, while Aaron Gordon (16 points, six rebounds) was also important on both sides of the ball.
For the Heat, Bam Adebayo was the only consistent threat on offence and finished the night with 26 points and 13 rebounds, but was still outplayed in his direct matchup with the Joker.
Jimmy Butler was a surprise non-factor in Game 1 when finished with only 13 points on 6-14 shooting. He’ll need to be a lot better than that going forward if his team is to have any chance of becoming champions.
Looking ahead to Game 2 and I’m expecting something similar to transpire.
The Nuggets haven’t lost a single game at home in the playoffs and they’re the red-hot favourites to remain undefeated on Sunday. I’m keen to back them in to cover the spread once again.
