NBA Betting Tips: Thursday March 9th 2023
Atlanta Hawks at Washington Wizards
Capital One Center, 11am AEDT
Separated by just one win in the Eastern Conference standings, the Atlanta Hawks and the Washington Wizards will do battle in the first game of Thursday’s slate.
New Hawks coach Quin Snyder has made a less than glamorous start to his reign in Atlanta, winning only one of his four games in charge to date.
The Hawks enter this clash on a mini two-game slide after suffering a pair of close losses against the Heat on the road.
In contrast, the Wizards won their most recent game against the Pistons after getting through a two-game losing streak of their own.
The Wizards return to Washington for this one where they’ve won exactly half of the 30 games they’ve played there this season. And while the Wizards home record isn’t exactly great, it’s still better than the Hawks road record this season which is 14-20.
I’m surprised the Wizards aren’t a lot shorter in the market against the Hawks here, in fact I’d price them as the slight favourites. With that said, I’m keen to back them in at juicy odds for a couple of units.

OKC Thunder at Phoenix Suns
Footprint Center, 1pm AEDT
A pair of Western Conference teams looking to add a win to their tally for different reasons will be locking horns on Thursday, with the Phoenix Suns playing hosts to the OKC Thunder.
The visiting Thunder are riding a cool three-game win streak but will not hit the road after playing six straight at home. The Thunder are 11-19 on their travels this season compared to 20-15 at home.
Josh Giddey will be looking to back up a career-night with another strong performance on Thursday. The Australian dished a personal-best 17 assists in his team’s win against the Warriors on Wednesday, to go along with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Suns are also riding a three-game win streak but unlike the Thunder, they’ll be returning home after grinding out a four-game road trip.
Kevin Durant has played his hand in all three of the Suns wins in this current streak, and the Suns remain undefeated in games where he’s suited up.
Durant will make his long-awaited home debut for the Suns in this one, so you can be sure his teammates and the fans will be fired up.
This is a tough matchup on the second night of a back-to-back for the Thunder, and I just can’t see them getting anywhere near this Suns outfit under these circumstances.

Toronto Raptors at Los Angeles Clippers
Crypto.com Arena, 2pm AEDT
We have a juicy game on our hands to round out an exciting day of basketball. The Los Angeles honours will do the honours and welcome the Toronto Raptors to Crypto.com Arena for what should be a fun matchup.
The Raptors will be looking to reverse their horrible road form this season that’s seen them win only 12 games from 33 attempts. It’s a stark contrast from their record at home which is a more than solid 20-13.
Meanwhile, the Clippers are pretty much a 500 team both at home (16-15) and on the road (18-18). Their home record is one they’ll be confident they can vastly improve and they can start doing that on Thursday.
Backing against the Raptors on the road has been highly profitable this season and I’m keen to go back to the well again here. The Clippers should be able to do the business at home.
Los Angeles Clippers -3.5
