Another huge 11 game slate greets us this Saturday, with several matchups to get excited about. There’s been some major surprises in the first week and a bit of the season, with some of the teams expected to dominate struggling, whilst others expected to be in tank mode playing well. Here, we look at 3 games where I believe there is an edge, in the hopes of making money.
Last Saturday we swept the board, going 3 for 3 on our bets for +3.68u to start the season. Let’s keep it up.
2022-23 NBA Betting Tips: Saturday 29th October
Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics
TD Garden, 10:30am AEDT
There have been early concerns for the Celtics about their defence, which was such a cornerstone for them last season in their run to the NBA Finals, but they have managed to negate those issues with some brilliant offense to start the season. In fact, when looking at points scored per 100 possessions, both these teams feature inside the top 8 in the league.
Where the teams differ so far this year is on the defensive side of the ball. The Cavaliers are currently conceding the 2nd least number of points per 100 possessions, whilst the Celtics are giving up the 3rd most points per 100 possessions.
The market is still treating the Celtics based on their defence from a year ago, and I believe the total is too low in this game. Expect both teams to score at will and a tight contest that has the chance to go to overtime.

Indiana Pacers at Washington Wizards
Capital One Arena, 10:30am AEDT
The Wizards (3-1) are off to a solid start this season, with home wins over the Pistons and Bulls, whilst also defeating today’s opponent, the Pacers, in Indiana. The Pacers (1-4) meanwhile are in rebuild mode, and they appear to be a long way off the playoff picture.
These two sides met just over a week ago, in both teams’ opening game of the season, and the Wizards comfortably took care of business 114-107. Bradley Beal (23p, 6a, 5r) and Kyle Kuzma (22p, 13r) led the way, whilst the Pacers were led by Tyrese Haliburton (26p, 7a) and rookie Bennedict Mathurin (19p, 7r).
The Pacers have been fine scoring to start the year, but their defence has been a major liability, and I don’t see that improving away from home against a decent Wizards outfit. Wizards to cover the spread and move to 4-1.

New Orleans Pelicans at Phoenix Suns
Footprint Center, 1:00pm AEDT
The Pelicans (3-1) head to Arizona to take on the Phoenix Suns (3-1) in a battle of two of the better Western Conference teams in the early part of the season. The Suns have been led by Devin Booker and Chris Paul, whilst the Pelicans are getting decent service from their returning superstar Zion Williamson, but it has been Brandon Ingram who has led the team in scoring so far this season.
Ingram will be inactive in this game against the Suns, and with the Suns’ strong team defence I can see them stifling the Pelicans attack, whilst also getting Devin Booker good looks on offense. With CJ McCollum also questionable heading into this matchup and the Pelicans beginning the first leg of a brutal 7 game stretch that includes 6 games on the road, I see the Suns being too good an outfit to be troubled down the stretch in this game. Suns to win and cover.
