AFL Western Bulldogs vs Gold Coast Betting Tips
Marvel Stadium, Saturday 4.35pm (AEST)
The Western Bulldogs are perched atop the ladder with a 4-0 record to start the season and have a great opportunity to grab another win on Saturday as they face the Suns at home. Can Gold Coast cause an upset on the road?
Match Prediction
The Dogs have barely put a foot wrong so far in 2021. They started the season with a solid win over the Pies before beating the Eagles in a thriller at Marvel Stadium. Since then, they have racked up dominant performances over the Roos and Lions in the last two weeks. They have mammoth 171.1% which is a nearly 40 percentage points higher than the next best team in the league.
The Suns were competitive early in the season but have since fallen away on the back of one of the longest injury lists in the league. They will still be without Matt Rowell, Zac Smith, Rory Thompson, Jarrod Witts, Sam Day and Connor Budarick for this clash. Combine their injury list with the fact that the Dogs are the form team in the competition at the moment, and it’s no surprise that the Suns will start as massive 37.5 underdogs.
37.5 seems right on the money here given the Suns have shown some heart in games and the youngsters coming into the side will be keen to impress to hold their spots. One market I absolutely love, however, is the Dogs to score over 103.5 points. Outside of their Round 1 clash with the Pies which was played in a pretty defensive manner, they have been absolute scoring machines this season. In the last three games they have put up an average of 113.3 points and seem to have finally found a cohesive forward line capable of real damage.

Last week against the Lions in Ballarat might have been the coming out party for Tim English as a forward. The youngster booted 3.3 in windy conditions in the win and will no doubt be spending plenty of time forward this week with Stefan Martin taking the majority of reps in the ruck. I expect this to be a much higher scoring game than last week in Ballarat so back English to be heavy on the scoreboard again.
Suns Prop
Brandon Ellis had just 19 touches in the Round 1 loss to the Eagles but since then he has racked up 33, 25 and 26 in his last three games. The extra time in the midfield due to the likes of Matt Rowell and Connor Budarick being on the sidelines has contributed to that and with those two still out, back him to have 25+ again.
