AFL Brisbane vs St Kilda Betting Tips
Metricon Stadium, Saturday 10th July, 7.25pm (AEST)
The Saints have fought hard to put themselves back in contention for the top eight with back-to-back wins, will it all come crashing down as they face the hottest team in the league on Saturday night?
Match Preview
The Saints lead the Crows by 33 points late in the third quarter of their Round 13 clash. They went on to have seven unanswered goals kicked on them and lose by six points, that loss seemed to have an effect on their desire. They came out after the bye and beat down the Tigers with their high-pressure game before putting out another impressive performance against the Pies to win their second straight.
The real test for the Saints will come this week though, as they face the red-hot Lions. The Saints will at least be thankful that COVID-19 has forced this game away from the Gabba to Metricon Stadium, where they had a small amount of success in the pandemic affected season last year.
After a 1-3 start, the Lions have been arguably the best team in the competition. They are 10-1 in their last 11 games, having only dropped a game to the Demons back in Round 12. Their average winning margin in those 10 wins has been a whopping 43.2 points and they are coming off a big win against the Crows last week.
Both Lachie Neale and Ryan Lester have been cleared to play after missing last week while Harris Andrews will need to pass a fitness test to play. All in all, the Lions injury list looks pretty good at the moment, which is just one of the reasons they have been so dominant over past few months.
The Lions start as heavy 28.5-point favourites up at Metricon Stadium, which seems about right given their tendency to blow teams out late in games over this current period of form. I am leaning more towards the Saints at that line though.
If this game was at the Gabba I'd have no issues backing the Lions, but I think they are brought slightly back to the pack away from home, and the Saints pressure has been impressive over the last two weeks. They have won four of their last six against the Lions and the when they played at the Gabba last year, they went down by just 2 points.

Jarryd Lyons has been one of the most impressive and consistent midfielders in the competition this season, averaging 28.3 touches per game and passing the 25-disposal barrier in 11 of his 15 games including eight of his last nine.
Jack Steele had a breakout season last year and has continued his dominant form in 2021. He has racked up 25+ touches in 11 of 15 games and had 36 in the win over the Pies last week. ever since that win over the Roos where Hill was criticised in the media for having just 6 touches, the Saints have been making a concerted effort to get the ball into the hands of the running machine. He has averaged 24 touches in his last four games, the majority of them handball receives.
