AFL Port Adelaide vs Geelong Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Thursday 10th June 7.40pm (AEST)
The round opening match continues to deliver in the AFL as we get yet another blockbuster between two of the best teams in the competition. Both teams will be coming off a bye in Round 12 so should be fit and firing Thursday night.
Match Prediction
It will have no doubt been a much needed break for the Geelong and Port Adelaide players over the last two weeks after a busy start to the season which saw both teams accumulate 8-3 records. The Cats were solid but didn’t set the world alight in their last game before the break, beating the Pies by 10 points at the MCG. Tom Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron looked ominous in the win, booting five goals between them and they will no doubt be some of the main beneficiaries of the break for Geelong.
The Power were far too good for the Dockers at home in Round 11, winning by 46 points at Adelaide Oval on the back of strong games from midfield duo Ollie Wines and Travis Boak. After a slow start to the season, Charlie Dixon also found some form in the win, kicking three goals while midfielder Sam Powell Pepper added three of his own.
The Cats could have arguably the best list of inclusions we have seen so far this year, as Patrick Dangerfield, Cam Guthrie, Mitch Duncan, Mark Blicavs, Gyran Miers and Mark O’Connor are all making a push to play against the Power, leaving only Cooper Stephens and Sam Simpson on the injury list.
That influx of talent is still a few weeks away for the Power, as the likes of Zak Butters, Tom Clutery, Xavier Duursma, Orazio Fantasia and Tom Rockliff remain on the sidelines.
The Power have been fantastic at Adelaide Oval this season, winning five of their six games, their only loss coming at the hands of the Bulldogs. Those five wins have come by an average of 41 points. None of those wins, however, have come against top seven teams, with their R4 win over Richmond being arguably the most impressive at home. It’ll be a much tougher test against a full strength Cats side this week.
The cats had some issues on the road early in the season but seem to have put them to rest, winning six of their last seven games including wins away from GMHBA at the MCG and at Docklands. With the high profile list of players they have coming into the side this week, I think they have the potential to give the Power a real scare at home. Back them to win this one.

Sam Powell-Pepper has booted at least one goal in his last three games in a row and slotted three in the win over the Dockers in Round 11. Seems to be spending a little more time in the forward line of late and $1.57 for him to snag another one this week is decent value.
Our other two legs are Joel Selwood and Dan Houston to pass the 20 disposal mark. Houston bounced back from a bit of a dry spell in Round 11, racking up 29 touches in the win over the Dockers. Joel Selwood has passed 20 touches in 8 of 11 games this season and will be keen to impress in a milestone game as he helps the Selwood brothers become the most capped set of brothers in AFL history.
