NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, 8th of February
Miami Heat at Washington Wizards
Capital One Arena, 11am AEDT
Looking to make it three wins in a row on the road, the Heat will travel to the nation’s capital on Tuesday. They began their current road trip with a pair of disappointing losses, but have won their last two by a combined 35 points in a dominant return to form. On the back of their mini win streak, the Heat have improved to 34-20 and now hold the best record in the Eastern Conference.
The Wizards started off the season in fantastic form and looked as though they were a big chance to fight for a top eight spot in the East; however, they’ve been nothing short of horrible since the beginning of December, with losses in 20 of their 31 games. Most recently they were held to just 80 points against the best team in the competition in the Suns, which saw them slip down to 11th in the standings.
Meeting for the fourth and final time for the season, the Heat will start as the deserving favourites to win on Tuesday and take out the series 3-1. All three games have gone the way of the home team in this series to date, although the Wizards won their home game back in November when they were in much, much better form. Fast forward to current times and we give them very little chance of saluting on Tuesday.
Phoenix Suns at Chicago Bulls
United Center, 12pm AEDT
Many pundits had the Suns pencilled in as one-season wonders after their surprising trip to the NBA Finals last season, although no one is thinking that now. After a slow 1-3 start to the season, the Suns have gone onto win 41 of their next 48 games and now hold the clear best record in the league. They’ve won 12 of their last 13 games and don’t look like slowing down anytime soon.
The Bulls had a fantastic start to the season and quickly became one of the most fancied teams to come out of the East, and while that still might be the case, they’ve certainly gone off the boil a touch in recent weeks. Most recently, DeMar DeRozan put in a superhuman shift with a 45/9/7 split, yet it still wasn’t enough against Joel Embiid and the 76ers. The Bulls have now lost nine of their last 15 games and have slipped down to second in the East.
These teams are yet to meet this season but this will certainly be a matchup that the red-hot Suns will fancy after sweeping the Bulls 2-0 last season. Moreover, the Suns were the best road team in the league last season and that’s continued this campaign where they have a stellar 20-5 record. All signs lead towards another Suns win here and we certainly won’t be opposing them.
New York Knicks at Utah Jazz
Vivint Arena, 1pm AEDT
The Knicks looked on their way to a much-needed win over a fellow struggling team in the Lakers last time out, but eventually lost in an overtime thriller. That loss was their eighth from their last 10 games in a stretch that now has the potential for serious consequences in regards to their playoff aspirations. The Knicks have now slipped to five games under .500 and are fourth last in the East standings.
The Jazz had a horrible start to 2022 with losses in five of their first 16 games, but look to have regained some of their better form in recent outings, with wins over the Nuggets and the Nets in their last two. As a result of their recent struggles, the Jazz have slipped to fourth in the West standings and are a whopping 10.5 games back from the Suns in the #1 seed.
Neither of these teams have been anywhere near their best in 2022, although the Jazz have shown the better form over the past week and will be the more confident side in this contest as a result. They’ve put together a respectable 17-10 record on their home floor this campaign and won’t need to play like world-beaters to get the better of the struggling Knicks on Tuesday
