NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, 7th of December
OKC Thunder at Detroit Pistons
Little Caesars Arena, 11am AEDT
The Thunder come into this slate off the worst loss in NBA history when they went down to the Grizzlies by 73 points on Friday. They lost all four quarters by at least 15 points which just tells you it was an embarrassing performance from start to finish. In line-up news, the Thunder are expected to welcome back impressive rookie Josh Giddey, although star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been listed as likely to miss again.
The Pistons are in some bad form of their own and come into this clash having lost each of their last eight games. In their defence, they’ve had an incredibly tough schedule with each of their last five games on the road and each of their last eight games against playoff teams from a season ago. Regardless, the Pistons are in desperate need of a win after tasting success just four times this season.
This certainly isn’t the sexiest matchup on the card but it’s one where there’s some value on offer in our opinion. It’s an understatement to say that the Thunder will be lacking confidence after their historic loss on Friday and they’ll still be without Gilgeous-Alexander on Tuesday. Still on the road where they’ve lost each of their last five games, we expect the Thunder to suffer another big defeat.

Denver Nuggets at Chicago Bulls
United Center, 12pm AEDT
The Nuggets continue their road trip where they’re currently 2-1 after a couple of handy wins against the Heat and the Bulls. It’s been a necessary return to form for the Nuggets who had lost six in a row before this recent stretch. They’re now an even 11-11 on the season which isn’t a bad result considering all the injuries they’ve had to deal with.
The Bulls continue to impress in their resurgence up the standings this season. Most recently they wrapped up an unbeaten two-game road trip with a four-point win against the leaders in the East in the Nets. That win brought them within 0.5 games of the #1 seed with their record now standing at 16-8. A big reason for their success so far this season is the firepower they have on offence, led by Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan who’re both ranked in the top 10 in the league for scoring.
Both teams come into this clash in some solid form over the last week, but it’s the Bulls who will start as the favourites and deservingly so. They’ve been far more consistent than the Nuggets this season and also have homecourt on their advantage where they’re 7-4 this season. We expect them to get the job done and cover the small spread.
San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix Suns
Footprint Center, 1pm AEDT
The Spurs had a deplorable start to their campaign but have found some elite form seemingly out of nowhere. Their most recent win was their best to date as they defeated the #1 ranked Warriors on the road by five points. The Spurs now have a nice little four-game win streak and will be looking to continue their surge up the standings in the West.
The Suns finally had their win streak snapped at a franchise record 18 when going down to the Warriors last time out. That 22-point loss was just their fourth of the season but interestingly three of those losses have been by 12+ points. In line-up news, superstar Devin Booker will remain out with a hamstring injury and Landry Shamet is expected to start again in his absence.
The Suns are by far the better team in this matchup but come into this off a streak-ending loss that just may see their motivation levels dip a touch. On top of that, the Spurs have won four on the spin including two on the road against very good outfits. We see this as a danger game for the Suns and one where the Spurs should be able to cover the spread.
