NBA Betting Tips: Thursday, 15th of April
Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers
Wells Fargo Center, 9am AEST
Brooklyn Nets are coming off a huge win over the struggling Timberwolves in a big bounce back game after getting humiliated by the undermanned Lakers in the game prior. The Nets continue to rotate their squad and we’re yet to see what they’re truly capable of at full strength as a result.
Philadelphia 76ers finished up their four-game road trip with a couple of easy wins over the Mavericks and the Thunder to improve their record to 37-17. The 76ers have played 10 of their last 12 games on the road, so they’ll be excited to get back home where they are 20-5 on the season, which is the second-best home record in the league.
Once again, it’s expected that at least a couple of the Nets key players will be unavailable for this matchup. While they should still be able to give themselves somewhat of a chance, we have to give the big edge to the full-strength 76ers on their home deck.
Joel Embiid has been an absolute monster this season and remains well and truly in the frame for MVP honours. The big man should be in for another big night here, especially scoring the ball as the Nets lack presence on the interior D. Look for Embiid to have a statement game with the Sixers attempting to go one game clear at the top of the East.
Prop: Embiid 35+ Points ($2.75)
Philadelphia 76ers -6.5

San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors
Amalie Arena, 9:30am AEST
San Antonio Spurs have finally come out of their slump in which they lost 10 out of 12 games. A gritty win over the Mavs on Sunday looks to have sparked some life back into them as they went onto demolish the Magic by 23 points just one day later. The Spurs are now back to an even 26-26 record on the season.
Toronto Raptors struggles continue as they’ve now lost four of their past five and 16 of their past 20 games. They had to relocate prior to the season commencing and just haven’t been able to cope well at all away from Toronto and it looks as though it will most certainly cost them a playoff appearance.
The Raptors are desperately out of form and the Spurs are coming off two really good wins in a row. The bookies have reacted to recent form by starting the Spurs as favourites on the road, but the spread is still really small at 2.5, which looks like great value with all things considered.
The Raptors defence hasn’t been anywhere near as good as it needs to be in recent weeks, which brings about the opportunity for some of the Spurs guys to score a few extra points. Dejounte Murray is the one on our radar here as he’s evolved into one of their lead options on offense. He’s scored 20+ points in two of their past five games and has put up 16+ shots in each of their past five. 20+ at near 3x your money looks like decent value.
Prop: Murray 20+ Points ($2.63)
San Antonio Spurs -2.5

Indiana Pacers at Houston Rockets
Toyota Center, 11am AEST
Indiana Pacers were unable to match it with the Clippers last start, going down by 11 points on their home deck and snapping a three-game winning streak in the process. Despite the loss, the Pacers look to be getting back to some of their best form and can make a late surge up the East standings.
Houston Rockets look to be in the midst of another potentially long losing streak as they’ve now lost three on the spin and eight of their past nine. Their defence just hasn’t been anywhere good enough of late, giving up 125+ points in each of their past three games.
The Pacers are starting to get all their stars back in the mix, which couldn’t have come at a better time as they desperately need to go on another winning run in order to secure a playoff spot. With that in mind, coupled with the big talent advantage they have in this matchup, we love the Pacers to cover the spread on the road here.
Indiana Pacers -5.5
