We went 6/9 on our NBA betting tips last week and we'll be looking to continue our hot form this week, starting with the huge 14 game slate on Tuesday! There are plenty of exciting and intriguing matchups on the slate and we’ve previewed our best bets for them below. Good luck to everyone following!
NBA Betting Tips Tuesday 21st of January
Philadelphia 76ers @ Brooklyn Nets
7:10am AEDT
The Sixers come into this off a road win against the Knicks, which made it three wins on the spin. It’s been a much-needed turn in form after they had lost six of their previous eight games. Joel Embiid remains out through injury, which has seen Ben Simmons elevate his play exponentially to make a late surge towards another All-Star Game appearance.
The Nets are just about back to full strength (minus Kevin Durant of course), but their results are yet to show that as they come into this game on a three-game losing streak. Kyrie Irving has been solid in his return despite being on a minute’s restriction, although his Nets have now lost 10 of their last 12 games and are in danger of slipping outside the top eight in the East.
The Nets have been poor of late, but we believe this could be the turning point for them. They’re at home against a Sixers side that is very, very bad on the road (8-14 this season) and will be without their best player once again. We expect Kyrie to lead his team to a much-needed win with a vintage performance in Brooklyn.
Los Angeles Lakers @ Boston Celtics
11:45am AEDT
The Lakers continue to impress this season and were impressive winners once again last time out against the Rockets. LeBron James dominated the game with 31 points and 12 assists to lead his team to another win without Anthony Davis. The Lakers are now 34-8 on the season, which is the second-best record in the league behind the Bucks.
The Celtics were unable to match it with the Suns at home last time out, which made it three losses on the spin, two of which have come on their home deck. This bad run has seen them fall down to fourth in the East standings with a 27-14 record at what is the halfway point of their season.
Kemba Walker missed last game with a minor knee injury and is questionable to return against the Lakers. If he’s out again, then the Lakers are just about certainties to continue their winning run. If he does get up to play, then we still like the odds on the Lakers who are the best road team in the league this season (18-3 record).
San Antonio Spurs @ Phoenix Suns
1:10pm AEDT
The Spurs were one of just four teams to take to the courts on Monday when they defeated the Heat in San Antonio by five points. DeMar DeRozan continued his white-hot form with a 20/9/9 split, while LaMarcus Aldridge poured in 21 points with an efficient clip. That win was the Spurs 18th from 41 games, which is good enough for ninth spot in the West standings.
The Suns recorded one of their best wins of the season in their most recent game against the Celtics. Despite being on the road and without Kelly Oubre Jr, the Suns recorded an impressive wire-to-wire win to keep them in touch with the top eight in the West. Their season record is now 18-24, which has them in 10th spot coming into this matchup.
This is a really important game for both teams and will be the first of two meetings between them in the span of a week. The Suns get the home court advantage in their first meeting and we believe it will be the difference here. We expect them to continue their strong form and take advantage of a Spurs unit playing on the second night of a back to back.
