NBA Betting Tips Thursday 23rd of January
Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors
11:10am AEDT
The Sixers came up clutch in their most recent game against the struggling Nets, defeating them on the road by six points thanks to a huge night from Ben Simmons. That was the Sixers fourth win on the spin and more importantly, their ninth on the road from 23 attempts. They come into this in sixth sport in the East standings.
The Raptors were also winners in their most recent game against the Hawks (122-117) and are on a four game winning streak of their own as a result. It’s been a great stretch from a Raptors unit that is finally healthy, which should help them continue their push for second spot in the East. They’re currently in third with a 29-14 season record.
The Sixers will be without Joel Embiid again for this clash, which we believe leaves them short of firepower to contend with a fully fit Raptors roster, particularly when it’s in Toronto. We expect the defending champs to prove too good for the Sixers by claiming a fairly comfortable win at home.
Washington Wizards @ Miami Heat
11:40am AEDT
The Wizards secured a rare home win in their most recent game against the Pistons, which snapped a three game losing streak. An already bad Wizards roster has been decimated with injuries this season, which is a big reason why they’ve only secured 14 wins from 42 games. They come into this in 11th spot in the East standings.
The Heat have been one of the big surprise packets this season and loom as a genuine threat in the weaker Eastern Conference. They’ve already notched up 30 wins on the season against just 13 losses and come into this game having won three of their last four games. The Heat are currently second in the East, but have a number of teams hot on their tail.
Once again, we believe the home team should be too good in this matchup. The Heat have the best home record in the entire league at 19-1 and come up against a Wizards team with a 5-17 away record. We expect this trend to continue with the Heat securing another comfortable win.
Denver Nuggets @ Houston Rockets
12:10pm AEDT
The Nuggets were able to begin their three game road trip with an important win in Minnesota last time out. They continue to be plague with injuries to key starters and Jamal Murray, Paul Millsap and Gary Harris are all expected to miss again. Despite struggling with said injuries, the Nuggets have managed to accumulate the third best record in the West at 30-13.
The Rockets were surprise losers against the Thunder last time out to make it four losses on the spin. It’s been a shock slip in form for James Harden and co. especially when you consider each of their last three losses have come at home. Despite all of this, they still hold the sixth best record in the West at 26-16.
The Nuggets have certainly been the better of the two clubs in the first half of the season, however, we believe they’ll come up against a very determined Rockets unit here. We expect Harden and Westbrook to secure a much-needed win at home against an undermanned Nuggets lineup.
