After a thrilling race in Azerbaijan a few weeks ago, the 2018 Formula 1 season continues this weekend as the tour heads to Barcelona for the annual Spanish Grand Prix. We take a look at the race and give our betting tips below.
After German Sebastian Vettel claimed his third pole position in a row in Azerbaijan, he was unable to capitalise on the performance yet again, allowing rival Lewis Hamilton to swoop in and take the top spot on the podium. Vettel’s Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen continued his strong form, capturing his third podium of the season.
The Circuit de Catalunya will be the setting for the Spanish Grand Prix, and while some rain has been about Barcelona throughout the week, forecasts suggest that come race-day Sunday we should have clear skies for a fast-paced race.
Lewis Hamilton put out a strong performance in the practice rounds and the qualifying on Saturday night. He will start in pole and has firmed as a strong favourite for the Grand Prix. Hamilton smashed the circuit record to snatch pole away from teammate Valtteri Bottas and Vettel.
A great duel in last year’s Spanish Grand Prix between the two kings of Formula 1 ended in Hemilton just edging out Vettel to pick up his second win of the season. Aussie Daniel Ricciardo finished third in the race and has had a great start to the 2018 season, already racking up one win and a fourth. He has, however, retired in the other two races and will be keen to stay in the race in which he has performed well in in the past.

Very hard to look past Hamilton here. He has already won the Spanish GP on two occasions in 2014 and 2017 and looked unstoppable in the qualifying rounds as he destroyed the track record. He should sweep the weekend here.
