There is a massive 10 game slate in the NBA this Thursday, the 7th of March and we are back with another round of best bets for the day! We went 2/3 in our NBA tips on Tuesday and we'll be hunting another profitable day as we preview the key games of the day on Thursday below.
NBA Betting Tips Thursday 7th of March
Minnesota Timberwolves at Detroit Pistons (11am AEDT)
The Pistons have been one of the best teams in the league since the All-Star break, winning five of their six games including wins over strong teams in the Pacers and most recently, the Raptors. They'll look to continue that form on Thursday at home when they face off against the Timberwolves.
The Wolves have won just four of their last 10 games and since the All-Star break, have won just two of six. They have lost uncharacteristic games to the likes of the Wizards and Hawks in that span and currently find themselves in 11th place in the Western Conference, six games outside of the playoff race.
The Pistons start as 5.5 point favourites at home, which is probably about right given the form they have been in since the All-Star break. The Wolves are one of the worst travelling teams in the NBA at just 9-24 straight up on the road and 15-18 against the spread. We think the Pistons cover here.
Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets (11.30am AEDT)
The Nets put in a dominant performance against the Dallas Mavericks in their last game on Tuesday, winning by 39 points as DeMarre Carroll led the way on offence with 22 points. They currently sit in 7th place in the Eastern Conference with a 33-33 record and have a favourable run with vames against the Cavs, Hawks and Pistons over their next three.
The Cavs are in a fight for the right to finish in the bottom three teams in the league and earn themselves maximum chance of landing the #1 pick in the draft. They currently have a 16-48 record, which is better than only the Knicks and the Suns, however, they did win their last game, a 14 point victory over the Magic on Monday.
The Nets offence looked hot on Tuesday against the Mavericks and they'll be back in Barclays Center on Thursday, where they have a 19-16 record. The Cavs are just 29-34-1 against the spread this season while the Nets are one of the best teams in the league at 36-30. We think they cover at home.
Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Lakers (2.30pm AEDT)
It might almost be time for the Los Angeles Lakers to shut up shop for the season. Another loss to the Clippers on Tuesday means the Lakers will likely have to win 15 of their remaining 18 games to even give themselves a chance at playing in the playoffs, which is a near impossible task given the tough Western Conference run home they have. They currently sit 5.5 games behind the Spurs in 8th place and have a tough game against the 2nd seeded Nuggets on Thursday.
The Nuggets will be looking to snap a three game losing streak when they travel to Los Angeles and with the Warriors losing to Boston at home on Wednesday, Denver are still within striking distance of the Western Conference leaders.
The two teams have played twice this season, with the home side winning each contest. However, in their last match, the Nuggets were dominant 32 point winners and the Lakers have looked extremely out of sorts of late, losing their last three games and seven of their last 10. We think the Nuggets cover the spread here.
