The weekend is here and there’s plenty of exciting NBA action for us to indulge in. Here, we’ll be looking at the value on offer in some of the key games on Saturday, so take a look below where we preview our NBA betting tips for Saturday, 16th December!
2017-18 NBA Preview & Betting Tips for Saturday, 16th December
Oklahoma City Thunder At Philadelphia 76ers (11:00am AEDT)
The Thunder are coming off a valuable away win against Indiana on Thursday, taking them to 13-14 for the season. They will play their second of a three game road trip on Saturday when they take on the 76ers. Although they managed to win in Indiana the Thunder’s road record is still one of the work in the league, currently 4-10 and 3-11-0 against the spread.
The 76ers snapped their 4-game losing streak on Wednesday when they beat the Timberwolves 118-112 in overtime. They will return to Philadelphia on Saturday (where they are 7-6 and 8-5-0 against the spread) for their highly anticipated matchup with the Thunder. Potential 2017-18 season All-Star debutants Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are both expected to play.
The 76ers have been strong at home, while the Thunder have been poor and inconsistent on the road. We expect Philly to get it done here.
TIP: Philadelphia 76ers at the line (-1.5) - $1.89 at CrownBet
Utah Jazz At Boston Celtics (11:30am AEDT).
The Jazz are currently on an alarming 4-game losing streak and will travel to face one of the standout teams in 2017-18 in the Boston Celtics. They have really struggled on the road this season, highlighted by their league worst 2-10 record and 4-8-0 record against the spread. They continue to rely on rookie Donovan Mitchell to lead the way in scoring, where has had little to no help.
The Celtics returned to the winners list on Thursday when they beat the Nuggets 124-118 at home. The will play the second and final game of a quick homestand on Saturday, where they have been hard to beat, currently holding a 13-2 record and a 9-4-2 record against the spread. They are expected to have their full starting line-up ready for this one (minus Gordon Hayward) and will be expecting a win.
We are taking the Celtics at the line at home here. It’s been a safe bet all season and we don’t see how this one will be any different.
TIP: Boston Celtics at the line (-5.5) - $1.91 at Ladbrokes
San Antonio Spurs At Houston Rockets (1:30pm AEDT)
The Spurs suffered a disappointing loss to the Mavericks in their latest outing on Wednesday, taking them to 19-9 for the season. They will face on of their toughest tests of the season on Saturday when they travel to Houston to take on the Rockets. The Spurs are 6-7 on the road and are a dismal 4-9-0 against the spread.
The Rockets continue to get it done night in and night out and are now on an 11-game winning streak after their 108-96 win over the Hornets on Thursday. Chris Pauls is now back to full fitness and went off for 31 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists against the Hornets. The Rockets are 10-3 at home this season and a league best 22-4 overall.
We expect a fully fit and firing Rockets team to get the job done against a bruised and battered Spurs outfit on Saturday.
TIP: Houston Rockets at the line (-7.5) - $1.95 at Sportsbet
