Philadelphia Flyers v New York Islanders
The first game has the Eastern Conference Wild Card holders facing off against each other with the New York Islanders playing host to the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers have turned their somewhat average season into a Playoff birth, beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 on the road late last week. For a team that has tallied up more Goals Against than Goals For in 81 games, this is a huge achievement and they look to be the dark horse in the race to the Stanley Cup.
The New York Islanders have racked up 100 points this season with an overall record of 45-26-9. They have winning momentum coming into this match up, although going down 3-4 to Buffalo last week, still hold a 7-2-1 for results over their past 10 games which most teams would be happy to take. With the match-up looking very even on paper, the Islanders should look to exploit the Flyers bad Overtime record. Philly have come away with a loss from the extra period 14 times this season, 2nd most in the league, and will be an area that could lead to their downfall in this game and during the Playoff period.
In a game that could swing in either direction, the Islanders have the better record of recent times and should take away 2 points from their final game of the regular season.

Anaheim Ducks v Washington Capitals
Two of the best teams in the NHL will see out their last pre-playoff game against each other when the Ducks fly into Washington. Anaheim are coming off a recent road win against Colorado and look close to unstoppable in their current form. Boasting the best Powerplay Percentage (23.4) and Penalty Killing Percentage (87.1) proves that the Ducks can be effective being either a man up or man down on the ice. This has helped them lock up 2nd position in the Pacific and they enter matches as favorites against most teams they play.
Although sometimes an unstoppable force and run into an immovable object, that being the Washington Capitals. The Caps have the most wins in the entire league this season with an outstanding record of 55-17-8, and have allowed the least number of goals into their own net (188). Even with only 3 regulation wins from their past 10 games, Washington are heading into the Playoffs as Cup favorites with the Ducks hot on their heals.
In a game that many are predicting could be the two teams fighting it out for this seasons Stanley Cup, Anaheim can secure their Division title with a win and this factor should push them over the line against a quality opponent.
