Wednesday racing is back at Warwick Farm once again for another strong midweek meeting. There are eight races on the card and a few smart horses on show so it should be a great afternoon to find a few winners.
There have been scattered showers in Sydney this week but nothing too heavy so hopefully we can be racing on a drying track today.
As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look at the meeting and has found his best bets for the day.
Warwick Farm Racing Tips: Wednesday October 19th
Race 1
(6) Golden Age looked good on debut and backed up some strong trials with a nice performance. The market liked him in that race, considering how strong of a maiden it was and this looks a touch easier. He drops 5kg off his debut run and should see every chance from a nice barrier. Up to 1400m suits and I think he gets a great chance to break his maiden.
(15) In Love And War comes out of some handy enough form races and has been building nicely into her prep. With race fitness on her side I think she gets a nice setup coming into this 3rd up.
(10) Ring Ahoy has been racing well without winning and just manages to find a few better at each run. Her pattern doesn’t help her and if she can get some luck in running today I think she can give this a shake.
Think we can see the best of (9) Oriental Tycoon over 1400m and there was plenty to like about the debut run last prep. Ran 2nd over 1100m on the Kenso track and was quickly put away. Recent trials have been good and he is right in this.
(6) Golden Age
$2.20 (2 units)
Race 4
I think (3) Pharoah’s Reign can go one better here 2nd up following a nice first up run when finishing 2nd over this trip. With that run in the legs now expect she improves today. The lead looks hers for the taking and should see every chance with the race run to suit. I’ll be tipping the horse that ran her down first up in the next race.
(1) Always On The Show blew them away on the wet Canterbury track last start when giving nothing else a chance to win. Dylan Gibbons rode him to perfection that day and retains the ride again. This race looks to have a bit more depth.
(2) Miss Madison won a bm78 2nd up and drops in grade for this. She gets up in the weights for that but is clearly a horse with scope to improve as she rises to the mile.
(4) Travelling Kate should be hard fit now and set to peak 3rd up where she has a good record with three 2nds. She looks to get the run of the race from barrier four.
(3) Pharoah's Reign
$4.65 (1 unit)
Race 5
(4) Money From The Sky looked good winning last start and I think he can make two in a row today. This horse showed a stack of talent early on but just hasn’t been able to put it all together regularly. From barrier 2 he will need a good ride but I think he is on an upward spiral and the mile is his best trip.
(10) Lindermann hit the line very well two back before tackling black type level at Randwick and finishing back in the field. Dropping back to the midweeks looks a good recipe and he is well placed today.
If the rain comes then expect (1) Zakeriz shortens right up and will take some catching. Apprentice Molly Burke rode him to a 6L win at Canterbury and she will be out in front adopting similar tactics here.
(9) Carbonetti next best.
(4) Money From The Sky
$2.50 (1.5 units)
Race 7
Hoping the rain stays away and (10) Shadow Devil should be very hard to beat. He has come back in flying form, with two huge runs for 2nd this prep. Up in grade but a like the weight relief for him and have always had a decent opinion of this horse. His best is well up to this grade and just needs the track conditions to suit.
(14) Showtime Lady usually improves with a run under the belt and she comes out of the same race as our top pick. She will also improve getting a nice drop in the weights and Tim Clark will rate her well out in the lead.
(11) The Poacher hasn’t done much wrong in his career to date, winning three from six. He maps to get the gun run just off the speed and race fitness on his side should take him a long way today.
(5) Devil’s Throat drops out of a good Saturday race and he generally races well at these midweek events. You could argue looks a touch over the odds at $11.
(10) Shadow Devil
$3.65 (2 units)
