Warwick Farm hosts the first NSW midweek meeting of the year with a few horses going around that look to have been perfectly placed to continue strong form they’ve demonstrated in recent attempts. Excited to see them go around and cheer them on.
Blake Lalor brings you his analysis and racing tips for the Warwick Farm below!
Warwick Farm Racing Tips: Wednesday January 4th
Race 2
(12) Step Aside fought on incredibly well behind Victory Lane when on debut and tipped at Warwick Farm. That race rated well and he gets a 2nd chance to win here in what does appear to be quite a weak race. The wide gate may pose a threat but if Jmac can get the horse to the lead quickly he should win.
(4) Burnt By Burnie was 4th in a good race down south on debut. I have a good opinion of Red Sun Sensation who won that race beating this horse by 1.7L and the trials in Sydney since have been encouraging enough to suggest this horse is a main chance in this race.
(9) Ocean Honour comes out of the same race as the favourite behind Victory Lane last time. He was a similar price there as he is this time and will need to improve to beat Step Aside. That said, he’s drawn well for Nash Rawiller and could improve more here 2nd up.
(12) Step Aside Win
$2.40 (2 Units)
Race 4
(3) Villaden will be hard to stop here after winning over the same trip last time under James McDonald. The horse steps up in class and drops 2kg, is drawn slightly further off the rail but meets a field which lacks depth and shouldn’t be too hard to finish ahead of provided Villaden turns up the same way he did last start.
(4) Shafty has now won 3 in a row and carries only 52kg in this race taking his talent to the midweek metros for the first time in his career. He’s drawn well so could make an impression on this race
(5) Endorphins is a hard horse to catch but has some ability. I think it might be a stretch to think she’ll be beating Villaden but she should be in the front division across the line.
(3) Villaden Win
$2.30 (2 Units)
Race 6
(6) Hamaki is perfectly drawn in this event after winning 1st up. He’ll get run of the race behind the leaders on the rail and at an e/w price is definitely worth having a play given a lot would have to go wrong for him to miss out on a top 3 spot here.
(3) Captain Bond is building a nice record this prep and has been well supported in doing so. He’s drawn a little wider this time but must be considered one of the top hopes especially with some speed in this race.
(5) Iron Will looks a progressive gelding although he’s too short for me here coming out of a Moruya C1 and Goulburn Mdn. Can’t rule him out but want to see him prove himself in tougher races before I jump on board.
(6) Hamaki $6/$2.15 Each-Way
$6/$2.15 (1 Unit)
