Another fantastic day of racing this Wednesday, the 17th of April with some of the key meets coming from Warwick Farm and Geelong. Luke Krahe is back to provide his best value bets of the day below!
Warwick Farm Racing Tips
Race 2
Race 2 at Warwick Farm is a maiden for the juveniles, obviously a lot of these can improve dramatically from one start to the next. Thankfully there is only one we haven’t seen before, we are going with the top-weight Erno who has been to the races once for a win. That win was on a heavy track at Wyong, he jumped poorly, had to work to find the front and kicked away in the straight. Half the battle at Wyong is finding the front at the top of the lane but the work he did early was noticeable and it was a solid win, 1.08 lengths to 2nd and a further 2.24 to 3rd. He obviously handles all conditions and from the good draw, expect him to kick through and lead all the way again.
Race 6
The betting will probably say it is an open affair but I confident in the chances of Lucky Helmet. She won two races through the Spring of her 3YO year, went to the paddock and resumed here three weeks ago in a similar race to this. She was poorly away, back at the rear mid-race before coming the widest into the straight. She kept finding the line and the extra 100m looks to suit. The winner of that race fresh has come out and beat some very handy types in the city on Saturday, she maps beautifully and should settle a lot closer. Perfect Pitch is the only danger in my opinion, she has been runner-up behind a couple of smarties at both runs back.
Race 7
Wolfe is undefeated through his first two starts, he led at both of them and just kept rolling along, both of the wins comfortable with big margins between the placings. He has not been seen at the races for 22 weeks and that is a little concerning jumping straight into the mile, but the Waterhouse/Bott team know what they are doing and have given him three official trials in the last six weeks. He will use his natural speed to find the front and roll along, kick on the turn and make it 3 for 3 lifetime.
Geelong Betting Tips
Race 1
Mugato is a first starter for local trainer Mark Young. He is a son of Starcraft that has not been seen at the official trials, but he did show something at the jump-outs here on the 27th of March. He was poorly away and missed it by five before showing good acceleration, sat very wide and just ambled along with the leaders before being eased down late. He looks to have a nice turn-of-foot, hopefully he leaves the gates a little better than he did in the jump-out and with the nice draw, will win on debut in what looks an average maiden. Think About Me was also ok at the jump-outs, watch the betting with both of them.
Race 9
Petrelle will be odds-on in this, and so she should be, she was a winner on debut at Ballarat where she bolted in and was sent to the paddock. She resumed after six months, killed them again up on the speed them placed at Listed level at start three. She was well beaten up the straight before going to the paddock at Group Three level, but looks well in here back in a BM70. She hasn’t trialed officially but the jump-out she had at Camperdown late last month was awesome, she was straight on the bunny and cruised to victory, she accelerated well when asked and was very impressive. The runner-up in that jump-out has since come out and won its maiden on Saturday. Load up on her, she wins this.
