Victorian racing on Wednesday heads to Sandown Hillside, where eight races have been set down. The track as of Monday evening is a Soft 6 and I don't suspect the track will change too much, especially with rain forecast for Wednesday.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday September 18 2024
Race 5: Sportsbet Feed Handicap 1000m - 3.20pm AEST
(7) Landmark comes here with fresh legs for the Kennewell/Yeomans camp, having not raced since July 20 when a game second down the Flemington straight behind a good horse I feel, First Settler. Fresh legs, but has residual fitness and the strong form. Takes beating here.
(6) Mantua has done little wrong in three runs back from a spell for Ciaron Maher. He comes here fresh, having not raced since August 29 when off the speed and chased with purpose, just missing out on the win when second. Maps perfect and I do like him at the short course.
Best version of (1) Oracle Son is more than capable of giving this a shake. He resumes for Phillip Stokes, having not raced since June 1 at Caulfield when down the track over 1200m behind Why Worry. Good fresh horse, jumped out well and maps ideally.

Race 7: Stow Storage Solutions Handicap 1400m - 4.30pm AEST
(12) Step Aside looks really hard to beat here for Chris Waller. He was 1600m back to 1400m when racing three weeks back here and was solid in defeat behind a good horse, Craig. He has the Rise At Dawn form as well, which clearly reads well for a race like this.
(15) Sunset Dreaming is knocking on the door for the McEvoy camp. She ran over 1300m here last time out when off the speed before being angled wider for clear air and worked home with reak purpose in a pretty good effort, just missing out on the win. Racing well, knocking on the door and strikes a winnable race.
(5) Prowling hasn't been too bad in two runs back from a spell and should appreciate a rise to 1400m. He ran over 1200m at The Valley last time out when off the speed and kept on without threatening but the run was a definite pass mark behind Extratwo. With luck from the gate, he can win.

Race 8: Sportsbet Jockey Watch Handicap 1800m - 5.05pm AEST
(14) Half Yours looks a potential jet, another one, for Ciaron Maher that is owned by Col McKenna. He is 2/2 this time in, the latest at Cranbourne where he made a 600m sustained run and just got better as the race went on, winning quite impressively. He looks destined for better races and this should be another winning stepping stone.
(11) The Englishman was bursting to win but kept finding one or two better, but that changed last time at Canterbury, knuckling down with real purpose to win narrowly but impressively. He gets the blinkers back on, he comes to Melbourne and gets M Zahra. Likeable at odds.
(1) Corona Lad is one I can entertain as a knockout hope. He was a tough winner at Morphettville two back before going to The Valley two weeks back where he got back in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. Dangerous if he can get a drag into the race.
(14) Half Yours
