Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday August 28th 2024
Race 4: Ive > Handicap 1600m - 2.45pm AEST
(4) Federer is bred to be a star, named to be a star...not sure he is or will be that, but I think he goes pretty good. The son of Caulfield Cup winner Jameka debuted at Ballarat and while I doubt he beat much, the arrogance of the win was something else, giving them a start and a beating in an electric debut. Like him up in trip and he finds a metro race where the depth looks on the thin side.
(2) Perfetto is a very interesting runner. Busuttin/Young trained mare that makes her Australian debut from France, her latest win being in November over 1800m. Fresh at the mile signals some form of intent and I thought she moved well in a recent jumpout at Cranbourne.
(7) Agreeance is a last start maiden winner on the Lakeside track over this trip. She got complete control in front and that was the difference between winning and losing, proving quite strong to the line and giving a very big kick. Good racing style and is genuine. First four contender.

Race 7: LockettLED,au Handicap 1000m - 4.30pm AEST
(9) Big Me is short enough but he does look to have a few lengths on this lot. Nick Ryan trained gelding that looked all but home at The Valley last time out but just got nabbed on the peg by the in form Cavallo Rampante. Drops back a fair bit in depth, he gets B Shinn and maps to stalk the speed. I think it'll be a case of good luck beating him.
The market will be fascinating with (8) Lazy Susan, who resumes. This girl has done little wrong in her eleven start career and although she has only had quiet jumpouts in readiness for her return, the stable does find J Kah fresh and the stable is flying at present. Watch the market.
(6) Whistlefield will put herself on speed and give cheek, which is what she did when winning at Caulfield two back before going to the Lightning at Morphettville when leading and giving a bold sight but couldn't quite see it through behind Lingani, who has won again since. Linda back on, she'll look the winner at some stage.

Race 8: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap 1800m - 5.05pm AEST
(14) She Said is the each way spec in the last. Daughter of Highland Reel that didn't do a bad job at Geelong last time. She was wide throughout from the gate and while the hard run told, she kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Maps to settle much closer, do no work, like her up in trip...think she's the bet at the odds.
(4) Half Yours looks to have returned in beast mode for Ciaron Maher. 2/2 this time in, giving them a start and a beating to win fresh at Geelong before backing it up with an even more impressive display at Cranbourne, albeit not up against much. Like him up in trip, good upside, deserving favourite...maybe a touch on the short side.
(7) Untethered will appreciate a rise in distance. He resumed over 1300m at Sandown Lakeside. He was near the speed throughout and although a bit one paced in the run to the line, he stuck on and was pretty good in defeat behind Prevailed. Up in trip, good upside and Zahra on, he's a knockout hope.
