Victorian racing on Wednesday heads to Sandown Lakeside, where eight races have been set down. The track as of Monday evening is a Soft 5 and despite fine weather forecast, I think won't improve too much.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday August 14th 2024
Race 2: Stow Storage Solutions Handicap 1600m - 1.35pm AEST
I think it'll be a case of good luck beating (5) Freight Train. Price/Kent trained four-year-old that resumes after a three run Autumn prep, where he was dazzling on debut before ending the campaign with a down the track effort in the Alister Clark at The Valley. He has jumped out enormous at Cranbourne and first up at 1600m with B Shinn on tells me it is intent deluxe. Best on the program.
(3) Teser has returned well and has a good racing style. Resumed over 1300m on the Hillside track when attempting to lead throughout and gave a good sight but had no answers late for Ithadtobezou. I think he'll get front end control and if the track is playing up/in, he'll be dangerous.
(4) All So Clear is finding it hard to win but he is a gelding that is usually thereabouts. Ran over this trip at Cranbourne last time when back off the speed and kept chasing in a good effort when second to Half Yours, making it five of his past six he has run second. Knocking on the door and maps perfect.
(5) Freight Train
$2.20 (5 Units)
Race 3: Sportsbet Feed Handicap 2100m - 2.10pm AEST
(4) Superstock should appreciate a rise in trip for Team Kavanagh after racing over 1800m at Sandown last time. He got into a decent spot just off the speed and tried hard but couldn't quite go on with it behind Mathew. He is a proven distance performer and his best is more than good enough to measure up here.
(7) Mr I'm A Believer could be a case of second up syndrome but the return was more than encouraging. He was 72 weeks off when resuming over the Pakenham mile. He took a little while to wind into his work but his finale was very good given the long lay off behind Super Solar. If it's all upside and no flat run, he will be hard to beat.
(5) Wagga Wagga is a fascinating runner. Import that hasn't really set the world on fire since arriving from the UK but I do think he gets a decent set up here to run an improved race off his first up run over 1500m when back and making up some ground without threatening. M Zahra on signals intent and his best UK form is more than good enough.
(4) Superstock
$8 (1 Unit)
Race 6: Thoroughbred Club Of Australia Handicap 1200m - 3.55pm AEST
Fitter and up to 1200m, I really like (11) Amoursirra for the Price/Kent camp. She resumed in a solid 3YO race at Caulfield and I think you can easily make a case to say she should have won but she didn't get the best of steers from McNeil, getting back, held up and it was an ugly watch. D Lane on now, fitter, rise in trip, bigger track, like her here.
(5) Honor Galore is a Cliff Brown trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Oaks Day when outclassed and perhaps was a tired horse behind Mumbai Muse. Her jumpout work has been more than encouraging and she does get B Shinn fresh.
(8) Elba is a slight query at the end of 1200m at this level but with her racing style, she'll give herself every chance. She ran over this trip two weeks back on the Hillside track when on speed and fought on really well but was held late when fourth to Charisse. If she finds the front and gets control, she becomes dangerous.
