AFL Grand Final Day Racing is at Sandown Hillside with an eight-race card to be in the background of what’s a big day of sport in Australia. The weather has been fine and the track is likely to be in the Soft range. It’s a tricky day for punters but we’ve found some early fancies which will hopefully see us through the day.

Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday, September 28th 2024
Race 1 - Sportsbet Photo Finish Handicap – 12:10pm (AEST)
(4) Treasurethe Moment should position up handy in the run, maybe 3rd the rails behind the leader which will suit. He settled in s similar position last start when placing but is fitter now and 1400m looks ideal for the first time. He’s 1 from 1 on the Soft and Beau Mertens has won when on top previously. He was a big 4L winner at Geelong last prep and it did look like he had a little bit of talent on offer that day.
(3) Chewing Gum is a clear 2nd pick for the Hayes Boys and he came from well back on debut at Geelong to score. Harder here but Celine Gaudray sticks with him which is good.
(2) Khadime was a 4L 8th behind Bellatrix Star last start at Flemington but this race is easier. He is fitter and has won on Soft ground before.
(4) Treasurethe Moment WIN
$2.30 (3 Units)
Race 3: Sportsbet Feed Handicap – 1:20pm (AEST)
(7) Zloties looked good when winning at Hillside last start after coming from midfield and she did have support that day. She is third up now and fitter and the only query is how she goes on a Soft deck. The extra distance looks to be of no concern and Jordan Childs is going for his 3rd win on top. From barrier 5 she will likely settle in the back half of the field and will be running on
(3) Written In Code has a wide barrier in 10 but will likely go back anyway. She ran on well at The Valley last start to just miss. Does drop back 200m in distance which is interesting.
(10) Smart Deel won’t start 50-1 as his current odds suggest I don’t think. He won well on the Synthetic at Pakenham two starts back and he wasn’t disgraced when 4th at Sale last time. Craig Williams is off and Harry Coffey is on.
Value: (10) Smart Deel WIN $51
(7) Zloties WIN
$3.20 (1 Unit)
Race 4: Quayclean Handicap – 1:55pm (AEST)
*SCRATCHED* (10) Freight Train for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr has his first try on a Soft track but looked good winning at Lakeside two starts back when he stormed home from midfield. Last start at Sale he just missed (2nd) behind Electric Impulse after having barrier 1. He has drawn wider here in 10 and will appreciate the room and will appreciate the drop in weight (3.5kg). Third up after trials and will be 100 percent fit now.
(5) Electric Impulse has won two races on the Soft and has drawn inside. Has placed here before.
(3) Kingswood defeated Herman Hesse in a recent trial and he would likely win this race. He is over the odds and has performed well over this distance before.
