June 24th 2024, 7:41pm, By: Adam Page

Sale Racing Tips

Victorian racing on Wednesday heads to Sale, where nine races have been set down. The track as of Monday night is a Soft 6 but with fine forecast, the track should get towards a Good 4/Soft 5.

Adam Page offers his best bets for Wednesday at Sale below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page regularly as we offer our best bets for all the key meetings each week.

Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday June 26th 2024

Race 1: Max Blakiston/Ian Rees Maiden Plate 1100m - 11.35am Sunday AEST

A race that is pretty much full of first starters so the market will be key but I do think it's a lovely race for (12) Flattered. She hasn't raced since May 25 at Sandown when a notable drifter in betting but worked home with purpose from near last to run second to Heinous, who ran well in Brisbane in a Stakes next start, so the form reads super there, as does the run prior in Adelaide behind Growing Empire, who could be a Group l horse. Next Saturday is a 1200m race at Flemington and I reckon this filly heads there after this. Confident she wins.

(13) Miss Cotoletta looks the pick of the first starters. Flying Artie filly for Grand Syndicates that debuts off the back of a very nice jumpout win at Mornington when wide throughout on speed but was absolutely trucking and went on to win by a few lengths without being extended. Early market push says she's here to go but the last 10-15 minutes of betting will be the proper guide.

(10) Crime Of Passion looks the likely leader and up/in when the rail is true is no disadvantage at Sale, especially if the track does dry out. Price/Kent trained first starter that has had extensive jumpout work at Cranbourne in readiness for start one, the latest seeing her lead throughout and she moved well. Was niggled at but did respond and safely held her rivals. Have to respect the stable with these first starters.

(12) Flattered

$2.92 (4 Units)

Race 4: Anthony Lee Maiden Plate 2200m - 1.10pm AEST

The standout on the program to me comes via (4) Sacredarro. At the time of writing he’s $1.80-$1.90 and to me, I think that is value because I can mark him much shorter. He should have won on debut at Sandown but got badly held up. He then stayed at the mile at Bendigo where he just got too far back on a day where up/in was gold and he was never a winning threat, but did make up ground. Couple of gear changes to sharpen him up and he'll eat up 2200m. Keen.

(1) Bluestone is a three-year-old with the Mick Kent polish and he is one of the better trainers going around when it comes to a young stayer. He debuted over the mile at Moe and was an eye catcher from off the speed, finding the line with purpose in a strong debut behind Sweet Jasmine. Bred to eat up 2200m, so the trip is no issue and similar to Sacredarro, I dare say he runs here then runs next Saturday in the Mahogany Final at Flemington.

(8) Cyclone Cara has had a few runs at the 1600m distance range and for mine she is racing like she will appreciate a rise in trip. She was a few weeks between runs when racing over the mile at Cranbourne on Sunday and was an eye catcher from near last when fifth to Akitu in a race that had depth to it. Like her up in distance, maps to do no work and is a must for exotics.

(4) Sacredarro

$1.82 (5 Units)

Race 9: Ladbroke It Handicap 1717m - 4.05pm AEST

He's an enigma, but I have always been a fan of (7) Northern Barrage and I thought his return at Geelong was more than encouraging. He resumed over 1700m where he got a dream run in transit just off the speed before angling wider into clear air and let down with purpose, looking the winner for a few strides, but up/in was dynamite and he couldn't quite overcome the bias when a close up third. If he brings his best, I think he'll take beating.

(6) Aiming is a key threat. Ciaron Maher trained mare that hasn't raced since May 25 at Sandown against the Mares where she got a fair way out of her ground but was good late and clocked good late splits in defeat behind Matriarch Rose. The depth here isn't as deep IMO and despite a tricky gate, I think she has to be rated as one of the leading contenders.

(11) Brave Miss should appreciate getting to a bigger track for Team Freedman. Just not sure she was 100% happy around Mornington last time but once she balanced up in the straight, she charged to the line to run second to in-form mare Run Naan. Hasn't done much wrong in a six-start career, she'll love 1700m on the bigger track and hopefully can settle closer.

(7) Northern Barrage

$5.90 (3 Units)
