Randwick hosts a nine-race card on Saturday with no stand out feature races, but plenty of quality horses going around. The first race commences at 1:05pm AEDT and the last concludes at 5:55pm AEDT. The rail is out 7m for the entirety and conditions are set to be GOOD. Watch and monitor. Shannon Buckley brings you his best bets for the card below!
Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, January 25th 2025
Race 4: Complete Freight Services BM88 – 2000m - 2:50pm (AEDT)
(1) Almania $23.00/$5.00: 9YO Veteran who resumed last start in open grade an only finished behind them by 3L (WATERFORD & ROBUSTO). Expect improvement second up and with a drop in grade and a 3kg claim engaged he looks a nice blow out hope.
(2) Foujita San $17.00/$4.00: 5YO Gelding who hasn’t returned the way they would have liked, but has had a forgive run amongst the three runs. We know he is capable of winning a race like this and is a 2 x winner over 2000m. Draws well and gets a nice jock on top. Another each way chance.
(3) Zaphod $6.00: 4YO who was terrific first and second up and then tackled this grade over 2100m last start and was well supported in the market, but failed to fire. I am happy to forgive and give him another crack as his two runs prior were excellent. Collett gets back into the saddle and he can give us sight once again. Goes well.
(3) Zaphod
$6.00 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Captivant @ Kia Ora - 1400m - 5:15pm (AEDT)
(1) Sandpaper $4.20: 5YO who done a nice job first up running down the front runners to score for the new stable. Must be considered again here and with the way Bjorn BAKER is going anything of his is a good bet. Will need to lug top weight the only concern. Watch the market.
(3) Headley Grange $3.40: 4YO gelding who has been flying and is already $5 into $3.40. (Wednesday). Last start win was impressive on the clock and id expect him to be ready to go on with it. Draws well and is a previous winner over 1400m. Hyeronimus stays on.
(7) Starman $7.50/$2.20: Each way player who has been getting closer in each of his runs. Yet to win from 10 outings over this trip the only concern, but capable of going close again with an each way price. Sneaky chance.
(3) Headley Grange
$3.40 (2 Units)
Race 9: Stud And Stable Staff Awards BM78- 1200m – 5:55pm (AEDT)
(1) Flying Destiny $12.00/$3.30: Front runner who was narrowly beaten by Sandpaper who is a short-priced runner earlier on in the program, so if the form is franked id give this fella some more respect. He gets in nicely at the weights with a 3kg claim and maps to lead, so if he can dictate out in front he will be the one to catch. Will be in this for majority of the run.
(6) Boston Rocks $7.00/$2.35: 4YO Gelding who has returned nicely with minimal luck in both outings this prep being caught wide in both. First up he hit the line nicely and just ran out of tarmac finishing 2nd behind GRAND LARCENCY with gaps to third. Tackled 1100m last start and again, caught wide and had to come from the rear, but hit the line handy enough and finished third. (Beat SOUTH OF INDIA there that run who has since gone on to win in this grade). This fella should be fitter again being third up and gets a much better draw to allow him to get a sit up on the pace which should alleviate having to do all the work from the rear and/or wide. He maps as though he can slot in the run of the race with the likes of KREON and COOL JAKEY mustering early speed from the wide gates to get to the front. He is clearly racing well enough and is closing in on a win. I appreciate the extra 100m now where it should give him enough time to pick them up, but ideally he is close enough and can be kicking clear in the final furlong. Happy to be on at the each way price.
(10) Step Aside $4.20: The favourite of the race who has slightly drifted in the early market, but we know he goes well fresh and with two trials under his belt he should be ready to give punters some sight. Draws well and gets Berry to steer. Main danger.
(6) Boston Rocks E/W
$7.00/$2.35 (1U/2U)
