Hurricanes vs Stars Betting Tips
Hurricanes
This is a massive home game for the 2-1 Hurricanes as they look to move up the table and avenge their loss to the Stars just last week. On Christmas Eve, the ‘Canes successfully chased down 147 in the last over against the Renegades. Short continued his great record in Hobart with 60 and skipper McDermott found form with the bat after a match winning 51 not out.
Despite missing the talented Jofra Archer this season, the Hurricanes still have a formidable bowling lineup. Meredith has taken 3 wickets in back to back games, Ahmad is hard to get away in the middle overs and Ellis is proving to be a death bowling wicket-taker after 3-15 against ‘Gades. Getting back to the batting lineup, it’s all about D’Arcy Short in this clash. He should enjoy the pace of Steyn early on and he’s already beaten this 27.5 run total in 2 of 3 games this season.

Stars
The Melbourne Stars are again playing Interstate this Monday after 2 games on the Gold Coast and a rural home game in Moe. Last time out, they couldn’t chase down the Strikers 174 total at Metricon as Peter Siddle bowled a perfect last over. Dale Steyn looked a bit rusty in his first BBL outing so the Stars will be counting on him to bounce back after dropping Ruaf. Speaking of Ruaf, he took a 5fa against the Hurricanes last Monday so the ‘Canes lineup will be glad he’s not out there!
In terms of the batting, it basically revolves around Stoinis anchoring the innings and Maxwell being aggressive in the middle to late overs. Stoinis was brilliant against the Hurricanes in Moe with 81 not out off 54 balls with 7 sixes. He’s not bowling at the moment so look for Stoinis to cash in with the bat again by scoring over 24.5 runs.

Prediction
In the 3 BBL games at the University of Tasmania Stadium (Launceston), the average total innings is just 138.5 runs. So we should be looking at a low scoring affair that could be decided in the last over. Obviously, the Stars recently crushed the Hurricanes by 52 runs in Moe. Haris Rauf was the destroyer with the ball after taking 5 wickets. However, he’s been replaced by Dale Steyn. The ‘Canes bowling lineup has the tools to stop the Stars batting this time and the likes of Short/McDermott are coming off half-centuries. So have to like the home underdog Hurricanes here.
