Horse Racing Tips: Friday, December 27th
Gosford Race 2 (Market)
(1) Magnolia Power has been very consistent over her 10-start career, mostly due to the fact that she races up on the speed and makes her own luck. She won a similar race to this at Wyong before going to the paddock when sitting outside the speed. She resumed on the bigger track at Newcastle and had the god sit on the leaders, eased three-wide to the turn before accelerating to hit the front. Her condition may have just given way late as she was run down late, but comfortably held second spot. She has placed at one of her two previous second-up runs, I like the jockey chance with in form apprentice Sam Clenton kegging up. Back on the small track and out to the 1000n, she should be straight on the bunny and be hard to run down up the short straight.
Gosford Race 3 (Market)
(3) Coco Cuber debuted at Canterbury back in July, he was sent out favourite off a good trial leading into that first start, led but was run down late. He appeared in the steward’s report with a crack in the off-hind foot, so we can forgive him that failure. He has had two official trials leading into this, he was pushed right out to lead all the way at Randwick on the soft track then sat in the middle of the pack at Rosehill and worked nicely to the line. Nash Rawiller gets the ride, from the wide draw here at Gosford over the 1100n it is a nice long run to the first turn so he should be able to work to the lead. Even if he has to sit parked it is not the worst spot here, he can kick at the top of the straight. He looks obe of the best of the day, black odds looks a gift?
Gosford Race 5 - Gosford Guineas (Market)
The first of the feature’s is the Gosford Guineas for 3YO’s, a Listed race run under set weights with penalties. My original selection (5) Big Parade has been scratched, leaving me with (11) Fiteuse on an each-way basis. She has good tactical speed as she has shown in two of her three wins and I love the draw today. She should be camped right on the leader’s heels in the long run to the first turn and has shown that she can do it at both ends. She arguably should be undefeated after four starts, her only defeat at Kembla she had no luck and was checked at the furlong pole putting her out of business. She was very heavily backed at her latest win at Canterbury and controlled the race throughout, she looks a great each-way bet to nothing if you can secure even money or better the place portion.
Gosford Race 6 - G3 Belle of the Turf (Market)
Tn race of the day is the Group Three Belle Of The Turf, a race for the girls over a mile. (2) Toryjoy resumed at Rosehill over 7 furlongs three weeks ago after having 4 months on the sidelines. She crossed to lead easily and after kicking early in the straight, found plenty when challenged late to hold on. She usually does race up on the speed and expect that O’Hara will do that again, rarely will I be confident with her if not up on the speed. She has won second-up previously and draws well, she will be very hard to run down if she lands on the bunny. (1) Aqua D’ivina will find this easier than last start when not beaten far in the Villiers, she always needs everything to go right though as she will be giving them a start. With that pattern of racing and a poor SP profile, I expect she will be a huge drifter in the betting and not start as short as the $4.50 quoted early. (7) Statuesquely looks the other leader in the race, she may be worth a saver in the run if she leads and the top pick is parked outside.
