Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, December 10th

December 10th 2019, 2:55am, By: Luke Krahe

Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Tuesday, December 10th.

The week of horse racing continues with meetings at Ararat and Wagga. There looks some good betting races at both meetings and we've highlighted our best bets from each track below!

Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, December 10th

Ararat Race 2 (Market)

There are a few unknowns here which I am wary of, most notably the first starter from the Maher/Eustace stable (8) Ruby Street. If there is solid money for her off her jump-out then don’t have her going around a loser. I did like the effort of (5) Ski Zoom on debut, she had support late from double figures in a similar race to this. She jumped well, sat up outside the speed before fading late to just finish the placings. It looked as though her condition may have given way late so she will be better for the run, there is a little bit of speed drawn inside but I think the claiming jock will show more aggression early looking for the top. If she gets it she will be hard to run down with the fitness levels up.

(5) Ski Zoom

$4.20

Ararat Race 3 (Market)

If you a follower of this column, then you would have seen the debut run of (1) Flying Banjo. I had tipped against him at Wangaratta back in late November, we got the cash that day but I am not sure how many we would have won had the race been run another ten times. Flying Banjo was very heavily backed to eventually start favourite, got well back in the run, was held-up when the runs came and when he finally got clear at about the furlong pole, he rocketed to the line to be beaten under a length. The winner that we tipped that day sat up on the speed and was off and gone before Flying Banjo even saw daylight. That horse Talaaqy came out and won at Tatura on Sunday, the third horse came out and won an Echuca maiden last Wednesday and a horse that was beaten almost 3 lengths came out and won at Wagga a week later. The only horse that has raced since that Wangaratta maiden that hasn’t won, ran a close second. It has proven a brilliant form reference, Flying Banjo was clearly the run of the race and looks well suited getting out to the 1200m. He has showed up in black odds but I don’t expect him to start in them.

(1) Flying Banjo

$1.95

Wagga Race 2 (Market)

(1) Crimson Hoffa had placed at all three runs before breaking his maiden status last start here at the track. He was beautifully ridden by today’s jock Matty Cahill, had the perfect run behind the leaders before angling clear and looming up. He probably should have won easier but was a little all over the shop late and in the end was good enough to win. He once again gets the perfect trailing draw and stepping up to the mile looks ideal. (2) Sugar Pine looks the obvious danger coming off an impressive maiden win at the Sapphire Coast by almost 6 lengths after leading all the way. Where has that been in the first 13 starts of his career, this is harder and he looks poison odds stepping up in grade, especially with some speed around him and that was a lot more tactical speed than he usually shows.

(1) Crimson Hoffa

$2.90

Wagga Race 5 (Market)

I like these Wagga Open Handicap sprint races as they always look to be competitive betting affairs. (4) Fermanagh Lad won the Town Plate prelude leading into the carnival at the back end of the Autumn here, he then stuck on well enough although well beaten in the feature after being posted wide without cover. He resumed at Gundegai in the feature sprint three weeks ago, had a good sit behind the leaders but was only fair in the run home to narrowly miss the placings after having every chance. He doesn’t fire fresh, his record of 5 unplaced runs from 5 attempts shows that. He draws to get a soft run and if he jumps away, should be able to lead or take the sit, back on his home track he looks a great each-way bet at the likely double-figure odds.

(4) Fermanagh Lad E/W

$8.50
