Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, October 27th
Sale Race 1 (Market)
A maiden over 1100m starts us off on Sale Cup day with a he crowd expected to be in attendance. Hopefully they are there on track for Race 1 as I have targeted a Nick Ryan first starter (13) Buttercup Baby with Luke Currie to ride. The Daughter of 2014 Cox Plate winner Adelaide has not been to the official trials but has had two jump-outs at Caulfield. She was very impressive at the latest of those, she jumped well, was eased back in the small field and the jock had a tight grip throughout and she settled well. There was a lot of horse under him and even though it was a jump-out over 700m, there was a lot to like about the outing. Would love to see some money for her.

Sale Race 3 (Market)
Another maiden, this time over 1400m. (2) Bumper Blast has been to the races once, he was big odds that day at Seymour over 1300m. He settled well back in the run, was held-up approaching the turn before laying out in the straight and made good ground late. He was officially beaten just under 5 lengths but was doing his best late, the 1400m looks more suitable and will no doubt get to a mile and maybe further. A huge jockey change from debut to today, Michael Poy to Craig Williams. The horse that ran second in that Seymour maiden has since come out and won by almost 3 lengths to break the maiden status and the third horse across the line won by almost four lengths in a Pakenham maiden last time. It looks a hot form race, look for him late.
Sale Race 7 (Market)
The feature of the day is the Sale Cup (if you are not in Coonabarabran), (3) Rox The Castle was a scratching from the Valley yesterday in favour of this. He has won 8 of his 14 career starts including three of his last four, this may be it for him this Spring after this run as he has been up a while. He makes all his own luck up on the speed, two of those four wins have come at Listed level at Flemington and Caulfield. He has experience here at the track, his first go out of maiden grade was here, it was a gap job and daylight to third when leading throughout but off the fence. There is a bit of speed in the race, drawn out I hope they take a sit here as he has showed he has the versatility to do so. (5) Romancer also likes to lead in his races but may be better suited here taking a sit off the inside draw, (7) Gold Fields also likes to bowl along in front. (8) Mandela Effect looks the only danger to the top pick, he should have an economical run off the speed and be charging home with Willow on. Both runs this prep have been good (last time behind Rox The Castle where he didn’t have a lot of luck late) and should be at peak fitness for this. The Tasmanian horses are all the rage this Spring!
Sale Race 9 (Market)
(11) Extending was backed as if there was no settling in an easier race here resuming, he sat up outside the speed and eventually took over inside the last 100m and was strong through the line. He then started favourite in a very open race at Cranbourne, had a nice run but was a little flat, beaten under 2 lengths. He had only had one race in the last 12 months prior to this prep so no shock to see him a little one paced, expect he will be sharper here. He will go forward, Olly goes on and should run through the line hard. You will get better than evens the place if that’s the way you want to play in an open race to finish Cup day.
