Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, October 15th
Newcastle Race 2 (Market)
(4) Lord Zoulander is very speedy, he has had three runs back this prep and led at all three. The latest at Gosford he was well supported and didn’t seem to run out the 1200m. He comes back in trip today and there is plenty of early toe engaged, but with the blinkers on for the first time and the middle gate, jockey Rahel King should be able to fire him up over the first 100m and get him settled on the speed. (7) Peak won his maiden here at the track over this trip but was very disappointing last time having his first go out of that grade. He had a soft run that day at Gosford, only fair in the run home but did do a few things wrong. I am happy to take him on from the wide gate at the short quote.
Newcastle Race 5 (Market)
(6) Melik had obviously had some issues before hitting the races for the first time, he had trialed five times officially leading into that dating all the way back to February 2018. He made that debut up the Highway at Scone three weeks ago, was a heavily backed favourite , winning in a most impressive fashion. He jumped well, worked across to lead from the wide gate and gave a good kick to win comfortably. The official margin was only a length but there were another 3 lengths back to third. The horse that he beat home at Scone that day has since come out and brained them at Port Macquarie over the Cup carnival, he should have plenty of time to balance up and work over again from out wide. If he finds the rails first, it looks a race for second.
Kyneton Race 5 (Market)
Beaten more than 6 lengths on debut doesn’t exact read like a good form line and one you would expect to target, but there was a lot to like about what (13) De La Noche did at her first start. She was here at the track 11 days ago and was very easy in the betting at huge odds after not showing much at the jump-outs. She was a mile back in the run before swinging very wide and although she was well beaten, it was encouraging the way she worked through the line. She gets the extra trip here which looks ideal, will get back again but the big field should ensure a genuine tempo. She will be double figures and with any improvement at all, will run on into a placing at least.
Kyneton Race 6 (Market)
(12) It’sayesfromme is resuming today, he has been to the races three times for a win and two placings. He was heavily supported at start two to win his maiden at Donald and didn’t let his backers down, sat up outside the speed before taking over in the straight for a bullish win. He then went to Sandown and again sat outside the leader on a heavy track, he was headed inside the last furlong but stuck on well on a really wet track. He wasn’t pushed out in a recent jump-out at Mornington and his recent official trial at Cranbourne last week was only fair, he should be fully fit of those two runs and ready to go here fresh. He did ping the start in that recent jump-out which is promising. He will go forward and be on the speed for a long way.
