Horse Racing Tips: Monday, October 7th

October 7th 2019, 4:57am, By: Luke Krahe

Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Monday, October 7th.

It's a public holiday in some parts of Australia today, which means there's some higher quality racing on offer than what we're used to on a Monday! Check out Luke Krahe's best bets from Warwick Farm, Benalla, Muswellbrook and Doomben below!

Horse Racing Tips: Monday, October 7th

Warwick Farm Race 2 (Market)

(9) Aspect Ratio has been to the races five times, three of them this campaign. She resumed at Goulburn and sat up on the speed but just found one better, she was then throwing the deep end at Group Three level in the Ming Dynasty, was three-wide without cover and stuck on well to place. They obviously have an opinion of her as she was seen in the Tea Rose last time, outclassed but was taking on the likes of Funstar, Probabeel and Libertini! She is drawn out and returns to a set-weight maiden event, jockey Andrew Adkins should roll forward early and be able to control the tempo. A huge drop in class should see her shake the maiden tag today. (6) Relucent looks the main danger, happy to take him on. He had been getting back in his runs before advising of a change of tactic to ride closer last time, again he settled near last and ran on well. He will be giving our horse a start and looks a great lay.

(9) Aspect Ratio

$3.50

Benalla Race 3 (Market)

It looks the right race for the Hawkes trained (3) Planet Warrior to chalk up win number one. He has had two runs back from a spell, resuming here at Benalla he sat up on the speed and would have traded very short in the run after looking the winner, only to walk late and be swamped by Scottish Dancer who went on to a listed race at Flemington. Two horses that finished behind him that day have gone on to win since. He then went to Geelong in a harder race than this, appeared to have every chance but may have just been a little flat second-up. The inside draw looks a little tricky but it wouldn’t surprise me to see James Winks kick through and try and hold them out, if he does, he will be very hard to run down. (6) Single Crown looks the danger, he was at start two last time at Kyneton and had no luck at a vital stage before powering home late to narrowly miss. He is getting out in trip for the first time and it would be wise to save on him.

(3) Planet Warrior

$2.90

Muswellbrook Race 6 (Market)

The sixth race at Muswellbrook is a jump-and-run 900m affair, (3) Bullseye Score is a gelding that loves the trip. He resumed at Moree in an easier race last start after a 4-month break, sat outside the speed with the big weight and finished too well over this journey to win by a couple of lengths. Drawn well in four with Yvette Lewis retaining the ride and the 3kg claim, she should be able to get the son of Golden Archer on the bunny and be too quick for them. I am not usually one to tip a horse with the young girls on but when they just need to let the handlebars down, they quite often get the job done.

(3) Bullseye Score

$3.70

Doomben Race 3 (Market)

A small and open race according to the markets, but am happy to be with the Matty Dunn trained (1) Ashman to make it three in a row. He won two back at BM58 grade at Ballina after overcoming a couple of hurdles in the run, the margin wasn’t huge but the gap to third was almost three lengths. He then went to Lismore and bolted in leading all the way, he may have been favoured by being on the rail and in front that day but the margin was impressive. This is harder but he gets good weight relief again, I imagine that Steph Thornton will be gunning to get across to the rail first, rarely is it a disadvantage to swing for home in front here at Doomben.

(1) Ashman

$5.50
