Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, August 18th
Cranbourne Race 5 (Market)
(1) Annunciate is very consistent, usually he gets back in the field in the run but last start we saw them ride him more positively from the gate. He couldn’t cross and slotted in behind the leaders before again having to ease wide before hitting the lead and getting run down late. He did a mountain of work and still had the audacity to only get over-run late. He gets the blinkers off and I suggest that they will not be bustling him out today, Rawiller will be looking for cover and have plenty to offer at the back-end. His last two have been on the synthetic tracks, I expect that coming back onto the turf and the heavy track that the big players and the bagmen will want to take him on, so wait to bet late.
Cranbourne Race 6 (Market)
With a couple of early scratchings, it leaves the field for this BM70 at less than 8 runners. This will mean that we will only be paying two dividends but I am very confident that (6) Terindah will fill one of the Quinella spots. He handles the conditions well, the last time we saw him on a heavy track was in a harder race at Sandown back in June, he ran on well enough back on the inside on what may not have been the best part of the track. Last start he was here at 64 grade and powered home late into the placings, the small field should suit as he won’t be giving them too much of a start, there doesn’t appear to be a lot of speed on paper and may be able to be on the speed. (1) Extreme Bliss looks the class runner of the field, she is resuming though with the apprentice riding, happy to take her on. She has won on a heavy track previously but it was right back at her maiden win, she did win fresh last prep but with the inexperienced jock, she looks too short.
Coleraine Race 5 (Market)
The second of the flat races of the day at Coleraine sees (1) Elraay second-up, dropping a stack in class back from a BM70 fresh to a BM58 today. The big weight is a little concern but hopefully Yendall rides him with purpose from the start. He handles the wet conditions well, is a winner second-up and obviously showed a lot more than what he did resuming when with the old yard in Queensland. (5) He’s The Bomb looks the main danger on paper, but his last two efforts on heavy tracks have been poor, both of them he was beaten more than 10 lengths. Happy to take him on.
