Yet another winner in the Formula 1 season two weeks ago as we tipped Lewis Hamilton to win his home British Grand Prix at odds of $1.75. That makes it six winners from the last seven races in 2019 and we’ll be looking for another winner this weekend as the tour heads to the Hockenheimring in Germany for the annual German Grand Prix.

2019 German Grand Prix Betting Tips
Lewis Hamilton picked up his seventh win of the season and his fifth in six races in England a few weeks ago to move a whopping 39 points clear at the top of the driver standings table. The start is Hamilton’s best ever to open a Formula 1 season, with seven wins, two seconds and a fifth through the first ten races.
Team Mercedes picked up another 1-2 finish in England as Hamilton’s teammate, Valtteri Bottas, finished second for the fifth time this year. It marks the seventh time in the first 10 races that the Mercedes have claimed the top two steps on the podium, and Bottas’ start to the season currently sees him in second place on the driver standings, 48 points ahead of the third placed Max Verstappen.
Youngster Charles Leclerc finished third in England, marking his fifth podium finish of the season, the most of any driver not competing for Mercedes. He currently sits in fifth position on the driver standings, within striking distance of Max Verstappen and teammate Sebastian Vettel.
The Track
The Hockenheimring in Hockenheim, Germany, has been a host of the German GP since 1970. Over the past 50 years, it has hosted the event on 36 different occasions, generally sharing the event with the Nurburgring GP-Strecke.
Current leader in the driver standings Lewis Hamilton boasts three wins at the Hockenheimring, the most of any current driver. In fact, he is the only current driver to win at the Hockenheimring, with other recent winners at the including retired drivers Nico Rosberg and Fernando Alonso.
The Hockenheimring is a very technical track and doesn’t have much in the way of long straights. It should bring the Mercedes back to the field a bit given there are plenty of great opportunities.
Prediction
Lewis Hamilton starts as an extremely strong favourite for the German GP at just $1.67. Hard to look past him, especially being the only current driver to ever win at the track, however, we are going to look elsewhere for some value this weekend.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has proven to be the most competitive of the non-Mercedes drivers throughout the year and has been particularly impressive on the more technical tracks, highlighted by his win in Austria.
Verstappen is great value to finish on the podium in Germany. Going by the current odds, he needs to only beat out one of the Ferrari drivers, which he has done in all but one race this season, to potentially finish on the podium.
