2019 NRL: Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips

May 17th 2019, 2:36pm, By: matta91

Round 10 in the NRL offers a fantastic eught game slate getting underway on Thursday night with the Storm taking on the Wests Tigers from 7.50pm! We take a look at all eight games over the weekend and give our betting tips below.

NRL Round 10 Betting Tips

Melbourne Storm vs Wests Tigers (Thursday, May 16 7:50pm)

This Thursday night will see the 7-2 Melbourne Storm hosting the 5-4 Tigers. Melbourne are 10-0 SU on Thursday night football and come off a 64-10 thrashing of the Eels. Excitement machine Ryan Papenhuyzen will make his fullback debut and Josh Addo-Carr

faces his former team. The Tigers also enjoyed Magic Round with a 30-4 win over the Panthers. They do hold a poor interstate spread record following a win at 4-8. However, they did sweep the Storm in 2018 and the Storm are just 3-7 ATS as a favourite against Wests. So the line could be good value but the Under total has a better trend. It's 8-1 in the Tigers last 9 interstate games and Melbourne are 6-3 against the Under in all 9 games this season. AAMI Park games in 2019 are 3-1 against the Under as well and Melbourne hold a 6-1 Unders record against the Tigers since 2012.

Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors (Friday, May 17 6:00pm)

In Penrith, the 2-7 Panthers will take on the 3-6 Warriors. This is a rematch of the 2018 Elimination final but both sides aren't in the same touch at the moment. Penrith lost 30-4 last week and conceded 5 tries in the first 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the Warriors rallied from 18-6 at half-time to beat the Dragons 26-18. In recent meetings, high scoring contests have been on the agenda and with both sides leaking points in 2019, this game should go Overs. Since 2017, the Warriors are 5-0 against the Over when playing the Panthers.

Brisbane Broncos vs Sydney Roosters (Friday, May 17 7:55pm)

NRL action returns to Suncorp Stadium with the 3-6 Broncos facing the 8-1 Roosters. The turf will be an interesting factor in this clash after 9 games were played here just last week. Most games were high scoring so this could be another, especially if the Broncos don't turn up defensively. Sydney haven't lost since Round 1 and despite injuries last week, they held on the beat the Raiders 30-24. The Roosters smashed the Broncos 36-4 on April 4 as well. But the Broncos have won 2 on the trot at Suncorp and do hold a 5-0 SU record against the Roosters here. The Over has a good record when the Roosters play the Broncos at Suncorp at 4-1-1 so that seems the best play on an expected fast track.

Gold Coast Titans vs Canterbury Bulldogs (Saturday, May 18 3:00pm)

Cbus Super Stadium features the 2-7 Titans and 2-7 Bulldogs. Both sides will be desperate for a win after poor starts to the season. For the Titans, they've lost 3 on the trot and were overrun by the Sharks last week. The Bulldogs are the worst scoring team in the NRL and sit on the bottom of the ladder. However, while both sides aren't scoring a huge total of points, this clash sees two poor defensive teams and that should mean a fairly high scoring affair. The Titans last 2 home games have gone Overs and they've scored 68 total points. When the Bulldogs play the Titans in day football, the Over is 4-1 since 2015.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Parramatta Eels (Saturday, May 18 5:30pm)

Super Saturday moves to North Queensland with the 3-6 Cowboys up against the 5-4 Eels. The Cowboys trashed the Eels 44-6 in the last meeting and with the Eels performance last week, this could get ugly. Parramatta gave up a total of 11 tries to the Storm last week in the 64-10 crushing defeat. So the likes of Jason Taumalolo and Michael Morgan will be likely their chances of continuing the Eels defensive problems. The Eels also haven't beaten the Cowboys as an away team since 2010 and hold a 1-6 ATS record since 2011. Cowboys at the line.

Canberra Raiders vs South Sydney Rabbitohs (Saturday, May 18 7:35pm)

Super Saturday concludes with an intriguing clash between the 6-3 Raiders and 8-1 Rabbitohs at GIO Stadium. South Sydney have won 5 straight games and they hold a 3-1 record at this venue since 2010. The Raiders almost rallied against the Roosters last week but fell short in a 30-24 defeat. This clash should be fairly high scoring where both sides should be able to continue scoring 13+ points. Thus far in 2019, the Rabbitohs have scored 13+ in 8 of 9 games and the Raiders are 7-1. In the last 7 meetings, this bet has saluted in 5 games as well.

St George Dragons vs Newcastle Knights (Sunday, May 19 2:00pm)

With the 4-5 Dragons and 4-5 Knights just sitting outside the top eight, this is a high stakes clash on Sunday. Both sides are playing contrasting football at the moment with the Knights riding a 3 game winning streak and the Dragons have lost 3 on the trot. The concern for St. George is the fact they've conceded 46 total points in their last 2 second halves. So in day football at a neutral venue in Mudgee, the Knights aren't getting much love in the betting but they're playing well enough to cause an upset.

Cronulla Sharks vs Manly Sea Eagles (Sunday, May 19 4:50pm)

Round 10 ends at Shark Park as the 5-4 Sharks meet the 5-4 Sea Eagles. Last year's encounter at this venue saw a 33-32 golden point result so hopefully, this one lives up to expectations. At this stage, both sides seem to have the same injury crisis with a number of excellent attacking players sitting on the sidelines. Despite injuries, the Sharks have won 2 on the trot, including an impressive 20-18 win over the Storm at this venue. The Sea Eagles couldn't get going against the Broncos last week in a 26-10 loss. However, they do hold a 9-1 SU record when playing the Sharks. Their line record is a perfect 5-0 at Shark Park since 2010 as well. So in a tight clash, look for the Sea Eagles to keep this one close until the end.
