Super Rugby Round 4 Betting Tips
Hurricanes vs Highlanders (Friday, Mar 8 5:35pm AEDT)
At Westpac Stadium, the 2-1 Hurricanes will host the 2-1 Highlanders in an important battle within the NZ Conference. The Hurricanes are coming off an impressive 43-13 win over the Brumbies and they'll welcome back the talented Jordie Barrett. Meanwhile, the Highlanders lost to the Rebels in Melbourne by 5 points in their 3rd straight close affair. They haven't fared well against the Hurricanes at this venue with 3 straight losses by an average of 16 points. There's also the fact that the Hurricanes are dominant at home with a 23-1 record and the Highlanders are 1-7 ATS on the road. So the 'Canes will likely have too many points in them.
Rebels vs Brumbies (Friday, Mar 8 7:45pm AEDT)
On Friday night, the Rebels and Brumbies will play each other for the 2nd time already this season. In the first meeting, the Rebels won a close encounter 34-27. They've now won 4 of the last 5 against the Brumbies and should be confident again. After the Brumbies put up 54 points on the Chiefs at home, they travelled to NZ and were outclassed by the 'Canes in a 43-13 defeat. So confidence will be lacking as they travel again to Melbourne. ACT has a very poor record against the line when they play on Friday as they hold a 0-8 ATS record. With Melbourne coming off a 24-19 home win over the Highlanders, they should cover the line against the Brumbies.
Crusaders vs Chiefs (Saturday, Mar 9 3:15pm AEDT)
On Saturday afternoon, the Chiefs really need to get going after an 0-3 start and a matchup against the 3-0 Crusaders isn't good news. Also, the fact that the Crusaders have won all of the last 4 meetings regardless of the venue. The defending champions have started the season with 3 straight victories and beat the Reds 22-12 on the road last time out. At home, the Crusaders are undefeated in the last 2 seasons with a 21-0 record and haven't lost here since 2016. With the Chiefs coming off a 30-15 home loss against the Sunwolves - a team that never won away from home - it's looking like the Crusaders will move to 4-0 with another comfortable victory.
Blues vs Sunwolves (Saturday, Mar 9 5:35pm AEDT)
The away streak is finally over as the Sunwolves beat the Chiefs 30-15, ending a 23 game losing streak in road games. Now, they'll travel to Auckland and face the 0-3 Blues. The home side is returning from a road trip as they lost in Durban against the Sharks 26-7 and in Argentina, 23-19. They competed with the Crusaders in their only home game of the season, eventually going down 24-22. So I can see a fairly close encounter here. The Sunwolves will be full of confidence after last week and they should feel a weight lifted off their backs. Sunwolves at the line looks the best bet. The Blues are 1-5 ATS after a road-trip and returning home.
Waratahs vs Reds (Saturday, Mar 9 7:45pm AEDT)
The rivalry between NSW and QLD has some extra spice in 2019 as Karmichael Hunt faces his former team this week at the SCG. So far this season, games involving the Tahs are coming right down to the wire as they've both been decided by a single point. Last week, they had the bye and previously, they just held on against the Sunwolves overseas. Meanwhile, the Reds are 0-2 but have played two tough battles against NZ sides. They just lost to the Highlanders 36-31 and competed against the Crusaders last week in a 10 point defeat at Suncorp. In this matchup, NSW definitely has the wood over QLD with 9 straight wins since 2014. However, with the Reds looking like an improved side overall in 2019, this should be a close encounter with either team winning by under 12.5 points.

Lions vs Jaguares (Sunday, Mar 10 12:05am AEDT)
Saturday night action in South Africa sees the Lions and Jaguares meet once again this season. The Lions took the first encounter 25-16 in Argentina. They've never lost against the Argentian side at home in their 4 meetings, including a 40-23 win last season. The Jaguares are travelling for the first time this year as they've played 3 straight at home and recorded 2 wins and a loss. Last season, they were a decent side on the road with a 4-5 record and I think they can get close to the Lions in this matchup. The home side is coming off 2 losses and a poor showing at home last week as the Bulls won 30-12. Look for a close game here and the Jaguares to cover.
Bulls vs Sharks (Sunday, Mar 10 2:15am AEDT)
The last game of the round will be an interesting battle between the 2-1 Bulls and 2-1 Sharks in Pretoria. The Bulls are coming off an impressive 30-12 win over the Lions on the road and will return home with massive confidence. Meanwhile, the Sharks winning run was ended by the Stormers in a 16-11 defeat. The last meeting at this venue went to the Bulls 39-33 and this should be another close battle. Close games are usually on the agenda when they meet at this venue as the last 8 matchups have gone to either team by under 8.5 points. With both teams chasing a 3-1 start, this should be a close finish.
