NRL betting tips

Round 14 of the NRL season gets underway this Friday and we are back to a full slate of games this weekend with SOO Game 1 done and dusted on Wednesday night. See our betting preview of all the Round 14 matchups below.

NRL Round 14 Betting Tips

Canberra Raiders vs Penrith Panthers (Friday, Jun 8 6:00pm AEST)

Round 14 starts at GIO Stadium on Friday as the Raiders and Panthers face off. The Panthers are 4-1 in their last 5 games and they are coming off a huge win over the Dragons. They rank 3rd in the NRL for points scored (23.08) and also rank highly (1st) for points against. However, a number of their best players will have to backup from Origin. For the Raiders, they have a 3-2 win-loss record in their last 5 matches and escaped with a win over the Sea Eagles last time out. In the end, I’m liking the unders which is 5-2 in Canberra this season. The Panthers have a strong D that can contain the Raiders and the Penrith side will likely slow the pace throughout this game.

Gold Coast Titans vs South Sydney Rabbitohs (Friday, Jun 8 7:50pm AEST)

CBus Super Stadium plays host to the Titans and the Rabbitohs in NRL footy on Friday. The Rabbitohs should be confident of victory as they sit 3rd on the ladder, compared to the 14th placed Titans. The Rabbitohs are 5-0 in their last 5 games and they held on last match against the Sharks by 8 points, without their Origin stars. They rank 2nd in the NRL for points scored (24.62) and they should enjoy more points against the Titans. They are allowing teams to score 27.25 points on average. So the Rabbitohs should easily clear 15 points. The Titans have done the same in the last 3 meetings against Souths and will be desperate to keep their season alive at home this Friday.

Manly Sea Eagles vs New Zealand Warriors (Saturday, Jun 9 3:00pm AEST)

NRL football continues with the Sea Eagles playing the Warriors at AMI Stadium in Christchurch. The Warriors are 3-2 in their last 5 games and they had the bye last week. For the Sea Eagles, they have a 2-3 win-loss record in their last 5 matches. Last week, the Sea Eagles couldn't get past the Cowboys at Brookvale Oval in a disappointing 14 point loss. But in the head to head, the Sea Eagles are 7-0 against the Warriors since 2013. But I would rather take on the overs as it’s set very low and the last 2 meetings have gone over 40 total points.

Newcastle Knights vs Sydney Roosters (Saturday, Jun 9 5:30pm AEST)

Round 14 continues with the Knights up against the Roosters at McDonald Jones Stadium. The Roosters are 3-2 in their last 5 games and they come off a huge 16-14 win over the Tigers. Last time out, the Knights had a win as they defeated the Eels at ANZ Stadium by a score of 30-4. The Roosters really enjoy playing the Knights with 5 straight wins and they’ve all been by 13+. The Knights have also lost 3 straight at home and have conceded 29 or more points in all 3. So the Roosters to lead at half-time and win is 5-0 in this matchup and offers good value at CrownBet.

Parramatta Eels vs North Queensland Cowboys (Saturday, Jun 9 7:30pm AEST)

TIO Stadium in Darwin sees the woeful Eels up against the Cowboys in NRL footy on Saturday. The Cowboys are looking slightly the better side as they sit 13th on the ladder with a 4-9 record. They recorded a comfortable victory last match against the Sea Eagles by 14 points. Meanwhile, the Eels are 2-11 on the season and will need to show something. They were handled by the Knights last week in a 30-4 loss. But the return of Hayne, Norman and Tim Mannah will hopefully give them a boost. In the end, these two teams have been highly unpredictable in 2018 and it’s also at a neutral venue. So I would steer clear of this game.

TIP: No Bet

Cronulla Sharks vs Wests Tigers (Sunday, Jun 10 2:00pm AEST)

In this matchup, the 8-5 Sharks and 7-6 Tigers face off at Shark Park on Sunday. Both sides are sitting in the top eight and that adds extra spice to this clash. The Sharks are coming off a pretty disappointing 14-22 loss to the Rabbitohs. Last week, the Tigers lost a close one against the Roosters at Allianz Stadium by 2 points. In 2018, they're allowing just 14.85 points per match, which ranks 2nd in the NRL. So with heavy rain forecast in Sydney, I do like the unders. Furthermore, the Tigers are 9-4 against the under this season and the Sharks are also a top 8 team in points allowed.

Total points UNDER 40.5

$1.90

Melbourne Storm vs Brisbane Broncos (Sunday, Jun 10 4:10pm AEST)

Sunday afternoon football ends at AAMI Park with a rivalry matchup between the Storm and the Broncos. The Storm beat them 34-20 in mid-April, which made it 4 straight wins over Brisbane. They had the bye last week and always look forward to this contest. The Broncos are starting to find form after a 4-1 record in their last 5 and 2 straight wins. In day football, both sides should enjoy the friendly conditions at AAMI Park. So after they totalled 54 points in the last meeting, I’m getting on the overs. The Broncos are 8-4 against the over this season. Taking out the Storm’s last performance at home without Cam Smith (24-4 Sea Eagles), they have scored 30 or points in 3 straight games.

Total points OVER 38

$1.88

Canterbury Bulldogs vs St George Dragons (Monday, Jun 11 4:00pm AEST)

ANZ Stadium plays host to the Bulldogs and the Dragons in NRL footy on Monday. The Dragons are 3-2 in their last 5 games and have played a few tough matches lately. But they still rank 1st in the NRL for points scored (25.08) and also rank highly (4th) for points against. For the Bulldogs, they have a 1-4 win-loss record in their last 5 matches. They are a very poor scoring team (15.25 points per match) and rank 15th in the NRL. However, they love playing the Dragons as they’ve won 6 straight over them. I’m not sure they can make it 7-0 but they should be able to keep the Dragons attack quiet. St George aren’t a great scoring side at ANZ as they hold a 12-4 record against the under. Last year’s Monday matchup went to the Bulldogs 16-2. The under is also 12-5 at ANZ this year and it’s 4-1 when the Bulldogs are involved.
