2017-18 NBL Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
New Zealand Breakers Vs Adelaide 36ers (Saturday, 9th December, 7:30pm AEDT)
The Breakers have found themselves in a little bit of a form slump after their red-hot start to 2017-18. They’ve lost 3 of their last 4 games after starting the season at 9-1. However, they haven’t been blown out in any game and they will return home where they are 6-2 so far. They fell short by 3 points last weekend to the 36ers in the reverse fixture.
The 36ers are currently in fourth position on the ladder with a 7-6 record. Their win over the Breakers last weekend was arguably their best of the season so far. They got off to a hot-start and looked in control of the game right up until the last minute of play. However, playing the Breakers in New Zealand this weekend will pose a far greater challenge than playing them at home. They’ll require another big game from Nathan Sobey, who had 22 points and 6 assists in an impressive performance last weekend.
Although the 36ers were able to get the win in this fixture last weekend, we feel that the Breakers will be too strong at home. They are extremely hard to beat in front of their home fans and will be looking to bounce back after last weekend.
TIP: New Zealand Breakers at the line (-3.5) - $1.88 at CrownBet
Perth Wildcats Vs Brisbane Bullets (Sunday, 10th December 3:00pm AEDT)
Week in and week out the Wildcats continue to show us that they’re still the best basketball club in the Country. They regained top spot on the ladder with their 10-3 record after taking care of the 36ers at home and the Hawks on the road last weekend. They will return to Perth for their game with the Bullets on Saturday where they will be extremely confident of claiming another victory.
The Bullets are 5-8 this season and have a lot of work to do if they’re to make a push towards the playoffs. Last weekend saw them lose away to the Breakers on Thursday Night before travelling to Sydney and notching their fifth win of the season. They will face their most difficult challenge of the year when they travel to Perth on Saturday, where the odds are well and truly stacked against them.
The Bookies have given the Wildcats extremely short odds here and for good reason. Bryce Cotton was massive last weekend, scoring 36 points in their win and we think he will have another big game in this one.
TIP: Cotton 21+ points and Wildcats win - $2.25 at Ladbrokes
Sydney Kings Vs Cairns Taipans (Sunday, 17th December 3:00pm AEDT)
The Sydney Kings season is all but over after their embarrassing 77-85 home loss against the Bullets last weekend. They are now 3-12 and will have to win just about every game from now on to sneak into the playoffs. In their latest loss they looked like a team that have thrown in the towel as they refused to put the required effort in on defence. With star-forward Perry Ellis under an injury cloud it looks like they are going to continue to struggle.
The Taipans are coming off a big win against Melbourne United last weekend. Even without star Michael Carrera they were able to contain United to just 70 points. The Taipans have the stingiest defence in the league and will undoubtedly be locked in for their duel with the Kings on Sunday.
The Taipans are 7-7 for the season and still have a lot to play for. We expect them to get the win in their first trip to Sydney this season.
TIP: Cairns Taipans to win - $3.07 at Sportsbet
