AFL 2025 Player Futures Betting Tips
Coleman Medal
The Coleman Medal race is always a fascinating market, and this season is shaping up to be no different. Two-time winner Charlie Curnow (2022 & 2023) is the favourite with most bookmakers at around $5.50, while last year’s dominant winner, Jesse Hogan, is right alongside him at $6.50. Hogan booted 69 goals in the home-and-away season, adding another eight across two finals, and looks set for another strong year. As the clear focal point in the Giants’ forward line, he doesn’t have much competition for goals, unlike Curnow, who shares the load with Harry McKay at Carlton. With GWS expected to push for a top-four finish, Hogan’s chances look strong.
A more speculative option worth considering is Nick Larkey. He finished third in the 2023 Coleman with 71 goals—a tally that would have won last year’s medal. While he had a quieter 2024 campaign, finishing eighth in the Coleman, North Melbourne are expected to improve in 2025 and generate a lot more inside 50s, which should naturally result in more opportunities for Larkey in front of goal.

Rising Star
The 2025 Rising Star race is shaping up to be one of the most open in recent years. Leading the market is Levi Ashcroft, the highly touted draftee and younger brother of last year’s Norm Smith Medallist, Will. Many believe Levi could be just as good, if not better, and after sliding to pick #5 in the draft as a father-son selection, he appears AFL-ready. He impressed in a recent practice match, collecting 17 disposals in just two quarters, showcasing his elite ability.
Ashcroft’s chances have also been boosted by unfortunate setbacks to some of his main rivals. Carlton’s Jagga Smith, considered one of his biggest challengers, suffered a season-ending ACL injury in a trial game, while last year’s #1 draft pick, Sam Lalor, fractured his jaw in a practice match and may have a delayed start to the season. While there are still plenty of contenders in what promises to be an exciting Rising Star battle, Ashcroft currently looms as the one to beat.

Season Exotics
10+ Goals in a Game
One of the more intriguing season-long exotic markets is the 'Any Player to Kick 10+ Goals in a Match' option, which also includes finals. In five of the past eight seasons—and 11 of the last 15—a player has managed to hit double figures in a game. Across a full 23-game season, it’s likely that a few key forwards will have opportunities to rack up massive hauls, particularly against struggling sides like West Coast, North Melbourne, and Richmond. Last year, we saw two instances of players kicking nine goals in a match—Joel Amartey against Adelaide in Round 15 and Jeremy Cameron in the final round against the Eagles. With so many elite forwards in the competition and a few teams vulnerable to heavy scoring, there’s every chance someone breaks through for a 10-goal performance.
Suggested Bet: Any Player to Kick 10+ Goals in a Match – $3.00 at Ladbrokes
Most Disposals
The Most Disposals market is always tricky, as durability plays a huge role—missing even one game can be enough to put a player out of contention. This season, two of the key names near the top of the betting—Tom Green and Adam Treloar—can already be ruled out, as both will miss the start of the season with injury. It’s also worth noting that this market only includes regular-season games, so finals don’t count.
One player who looks over the odds is Caleb Serong. He had a breakout 2023 campaign, averaging 30.68 disposals while missing just one game, and backed it up last season by playing all 23 matches and averaging 29.39 disposals. Nick Daicos is the clear favourite and an obvious contender, but he has also dealt with injury concerns during the preseason. With Serong’s proven durability and consistency, he shapes as strong value in this market.
Suggested Bet: Caleb Serong – $13 at Ladbrokes
