Victorian racing on Wednesday heads to Mornington, where eight races have been set down. The track as of Monday afternoon is a Good 4 and I suspect the track will be in good order with good weather forecast. Adam Page brings you his three best bets for the day at Mornington below!
Mornington Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 11th 2024
Race 2: Flex 23 Asphalting Plate 1600m - 4.15pm AEDT
I think the market flips here and 7 Star Canto will start favourite come jump time. This mare has placed in all three career outings, the latest coming over 1450m at Kilmore where she wasn't 100% happy on the wet track but she stayed on and was sound in defeat. Was a month between runs and stayed at 1400m so the rise to 1600m looks ideal, firmer deck, kind map...keen.
1 Eclipsion is the key threat. He ran on Kilmore Cup Day over the mile, attempting to lead throughout, and he gave a strong kick, but just felt the pinch late and was run down. Tricky draw, but should slide across, get front end control and be hard to get past.
8 Wokou jumps straight to the mile after resuming over 1200m at Bairnsdale when on speed but didn't find much under pressure, feeling the pinch and ran out of condition. Jumps straight to 1600m, good upside and has the right racing style.

Race 4: The Big Screen Company Plate 1200m - 5.25pm AEDT
4 Mrs Artie is the way I am siding with, and with a fair degree of confidence. She was well tried at odds when debuting over 1300m at Geelong where she got a fair way out of her ground and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Much better suited here in a weaker maiden, home track advantage...like her.
3 Lavender Glory is knocking on the door to win. Track/distance placegetter last time out when running third and while she was good in defeat, she did have every chance. Maps perfect once again and overall, this isn't an overly deep contest.
10 Toroness ran down the track in the maiden that Lavender Glory contested at this track/distance. She got off speed and while she did have her chance, she was a touch keen in the run and just couldn't finish it off. Better racing manners, more positive ride, she will run an improved race.

Race 6: Southside Tiling Services Victoria Handicap (64) 1200m - 6.30pm AEDT
5 Milo looks a big price here I feel. He resumed over 1200m at Ballarat where he just got too far back in the run and couldn't get a drag into the race. Total forgive as far as I'm concerned. Maps to settle much closer in the run and his best is more than good enough.
8 Earth God comes here with fresh legs for Team Freedman, having not raced since Nov 10 on Ararat Cup Day when doing work in the run and tiring late behind Esecutore. Blinkers go back on and back a fair way in overall depth, he appeals.
2 Mystic Mac is a Chris Meagher trained gelding that resumes. He comes down from Queensland where he did some nice things up there, winning a couple of races in town. He has jumped out well enough to my eye and has a good racing style, so keen to see how he goes.
