2024 NRL Round 22 Preview & Betting Tips
Canterbury Bulldogs vs Canberra Raiders
Belmore Sports Ground, Sunday 4th August, 4:05pm (AEST)
The turnaround at the Kennel has been quite remarkable. Cameron Ciraldo is the coach of the year, make no mistake. Yes, Craig Bellamy has got the Storm humming but the turnaround and how good the Doggies are playing has been wonderful, and the full stop on that was last weekend, where they belted the Brisbane Broncos 41-16 at Suncorp, with some of their attacking play being the best seen this year. They get Crichton and Addo-Carr back and are at Belmore, where the crowd will be 99% in their corner. It's hard seeing them getting beat.
The return of Jamal Fogarty has been a timely boost for the Raiders. His leadership and the way he leads the team, especially in attack, has been very evident in recent weeks. Not sure what to make of the win against the Bunnies last week. They were good, but gee the Bunnies were quite bad so did they make Canberra look good? Not sure, but they are a side that love to cause an upset, especially on the road, so while I doubt they win, I doubt they will surrender easy.
Match Prediction: The Bulldogs are a premiership threat. Their defence is the second best in the comp behind Penrith and if last week is anything to go by, their attack is starting to hum, and that was without Stephen Crichton and Josh Addo-Carr. They both return for the Doggies this week and that spells really bad news for Canberra, who were good against the Bunnies and Josh Papalii plays his 300th game, but I can't see them troubling Canterbury.

Bulldogs-7.5: As I said earlier, the crowd will be 99.9% pro Bulldogs and the way they are playing, it is hard seeing them getting troubled by the Raiders on the current form of both teams.
+48.5 Total Match Points: Both sides are known to throw the ball around, and if the deck is dry, with fine weather, the scoring should be high I feel so the overs, I think, will salute.
