British Grand Prix Tips 2023: Formula 1 Predictions & Betting Preview

British GP Tips

Round 11 of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship is set back where it all began, at the Silverstone Circuit, for the British Grand Prix. The site of many tremendous races is set to welcome the teams and drivers, in what will hopefully be a competitive race.

We had another great Grand Prix last round, going 2/3 in our bets, for a tidy +5.25u profit. We’ve been on fire of late, and if you’re not checking out the work at Before You Bet, you’re missing out. Free Previews and Best Bets for every major sport across the globe, get amongst it!

2023 Formula 1 Betting Tips

Austrian Grand Prix Review

Another race, another Max Verstappen win. To be honest, I could just copy and paste the previous 4 or 5 race reviews and change the name of the race, and I could get away with it. Verstappen is having perhaps the most dominant season ever, and it’s very hard to see anyone catching him now for the Drivers Championship. At this stage, most people would just be happy to see a competitive race at the front.

Verstappen led every session, won the sprint race, and was never headed at the front during the entire weekend. He even had enough time in the bank to pit with 2 laps left so he could put on fresh rubber and set the fastest lap. Elsewhere, Ferrari had a more competitive weekend, with Leclerc finishing second, after a relatively anonymous race for the most part. He never had the pace of Verstappen, but he did his job, and Ferrari should be incredibly happy with his performance. Sergio Perez finished 3rd in a solid effort from the Mexican.

The race will be remembered mostly for the multitude of penalties, with several even being handed out post-race, for drivers exceeding track limits. In a season where Formula 1 is struggling to hold onto casual fans, these sorts of races and rulings are hurting the sport, rather than helping.

British Grand Prix Preview

Ok, it’s time to have a stab. We have been slowly accumulating with Max Verstappen winners over the past 4 or 5 Grand Prix, but it’s time to take a bit of a flier, and this could well be the circuit to do it. Not only has Max Verstappen had a notoriously tough time of it at this circuit (he has never won a British Grand Prix), but the Red Bull car has never truly flourished here, with only 3 victories at the circuit, and they were all during the dominant years of the Seb Vettel / Mark Webber led Red Bulls. So, if we’re not backing Max here, who are we going to back?

I will strike Perez straight off the list, and he is the second favourite to win. As already mentioned, I’m banking on the Red Bull not being as dominant at the Silverstone Circuit this weekend. As for the Mercedes pair, I’m just not confident that the car is good enough. However, I do like Hamilton to make it onto the podium. He has been brilliant at this circuit for years, and I believe he will get everything he can out of the Mercedes package.

Aston Martin seemed to take a step back last weekend in Austria, so it’s the Ferrari where I direct my attention. Whilst Leclerc has, for the most part, had the measure of Carlos Sainz throughout their tenure as teammates, Sainz has appeared to be as close as ever to Leclerc this season. And at a big number, I’m going to have a look at Sainz to go back-to-back here at Silverstone.

I’ll back the British drivers to have a good weekend here also, with Lando Norris to keep up the momentum McLaren has shown lately with a top 6 finish, and Alex Albon to continue to shine at Williams, and snatch some points.
