PGA Tour AT&T Byron Nelson Betting Tips
TPC Craig Ranch, Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th April
Another elevated PGA Tour event came and went on the weekend as the top players battled it out for the $20million prize pool at the Wells Fargo Championship. In the end it was Wyndham Clark who hoisted his first PGA Tour title, winning by an impressive four strokes over second placed Xander Schauffele.
Before You Bet followers picked up a nice collect on Rickie Fowler to finish in the top 30, although other tips in Viktor Hovland and Keith Mitchell both just missed out on their respective place finishes. We’ll be looking to bounce back at the AT&T, building some momentum for next weekend’s PGA Championship.
The Field
Predictably, the field for the AT&T Byron Nelson this week is a little thin this week given that the majority of top players in the world have opted to take the week off ahead of the major. However, there is still some star power in the field, headlined by the No.2 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler.
Some other big names that will be teeing it up on Thursday include Tyrell Hatton, Jason Day, Tom Kim, Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott and Si Woo Kim. South Koreans have won the last three events, with Kang Sung-hoon winning in 2019 before Lee Kyoung-hoon took out the event in both 2021 and 2022. They’ll both be back in action this week while other winners of the AT&T that will be looking to add another trophy to the case include Aaron Wise and Australian pair Day and Scott.
The Course
TPC Craig Ranch, Dallas, Texas
7,438 Yards, Par 72
Designed by famous golf course architect Tom Weiskopf, TPC Craig Ranch opened for play in 2004 and has been the host of this tournament for just the last two years. The course features a variety of challenges for the modern day PGA Tour player, from short Par 4’s that play much harder than their yardages indicate, to long Par 3’s that stretch out over 215 yards.
The biggest defence at TPC Craig Ranch, however, is the wind. The importance of being able to shape the ball with or against the wind, and accuracy with irons overall increases tenfold when the wind picks up at TPC Craig Ranch. Because of this key factor, it’s strong players from tee-to-green that we will be targeting this week.
Betting Tips
Hideki Matsuyama ($21/Top 20 $1.95)
The Japanese star is in some solid form at the moment, having made the cut in his last four tournaments for finishes of T5, T31, T15 and T16. He has also been solid in both of the events held at TPC Craig Ranch, finishing T39 in 2021 and 3rd last season. Represents good value this week.
Seamus Power ($41/Top 30 $2.00)
Like the look of the Irishman heading into this week after an impressive 18th place finish amongst a top field at the Wells Fargo last week. Has solid pedigree on this course, finishing T9 in 2021 before a T17 finish last season. Power is one of the best putters on tour, ranking in the top 25 in all of the major putting categories.
Joseph Bramlett ($51/Top 40 $1.80)
Certainly not a well known player on the PGA Tour, but one that has been in some solid form of late and one that could take advantage of the slightly weaker field this week. Had an impressive 10th place finish at the Mexico Championship before placing T40 at the Wells Fargo. Has made the cut in both of his trips to TPC Craig Ranch.
