Warwick Farm delivers us a seven-race meeting on Wednesday with a few horses identified as strong chances. We're looking forward to racing on a good track after a Spring filled with rain and wet tracks.
Blake Lalor has jumped on the ride this week as he brings us his best bets and racing tips for Wednesday's action from Warwick Farm.
Warwick Farm Racing Tips: Wednesday November 23rd
Race 2
(7) Saturn Star is no doubt going to progress to stronger races than a midweek Bm68. He’s shown plenty of ability winning on debut before numerous hinderances including being scratched and declared a non-runner in consecutive races. This horse’s maiden has already produced multiple winners and a big cast of placegetters with runner-up Pereille running 2nd since and looking like a talented horse. Saturn Star has early speed, should lead, and will be very hard to beat.
(1) Green Shadows was strong through the line last time at Rosehill after falling too far back from a wide gate. He’s drawn far better in gate 3 this time with a 3kg claim from Zac Lloyd to assist as well. Looks the most likely runner-up.
(5) Kovalica was just average on debut over 1300m but improved sharply to win by 3L over 1600m last time out. Stays at that trip this time so has to be considered a strong chance especially with the James Mcdonald/Chris Waller combination.
(4) Czar is drawn well and has Tommy Berry aboard. Won’t work hard at any point in the run from gate 1 and could sneak into the placings.
(7) Saturn Star
$2.70 (3 units)
Race 3
(2) Great Barrier Reef has form which ties in very strongly to Saturn Star in the race prior. Prior to travelling south to take on Group quality races in Victoria, this horse beat home Pereille and Tribeca Star who also filled the placings behind Saturn Star. This race is an enormous drop in class from a Danehill, Red Anchor and Coolmore (Group 1) and James Mcdonald should give the horse every possible chance from gate 4.
(1) Hard To Say draws well in a race which possesses plenty of speed on paper. The horse can settle right behind that wall of horses and may just get the breaks late to be in the finish late.
(4) Iowna Merc was impressive winning last time out however that was only in a 1000m maiden at Kembla Grange. He doesn’t have the form on the board like Great Barrier Reef but looks progressive.
(8) Ginger’s Gal has been impressive stringing two wins together this prep over the sprint trips. She’s drawn well and has early speed which will help her give this race a good shake at odds.
(2) Great Barrier Reef E/W
$5.50/$2.20 (1 unit e/w)
Race 4
(4) Bak Da Man would’ve won his last start if not for a controversial ride where the horse was barely given any racing room at any point and looked to be travelling extremely well. It’s unlikely Tommy Berry makes that mistake this time aboard a horse which appears to be a very talented stayer in the making.
(2) Skymax is big odds here and can run a cheeky race from the good gate with 1.5kg off thanks to Tyler Schiller who rides. Was tailed off last time on a wet track but is a different horse on dry ground and can show that this time.
(3) Highland Rocker was 2nd to Essential Sky last time who just caught him late. That horse is flying and this horse looks to be going well too so expect a solid run. Only query is the wide draw.
(8) Leather Jacket Lew is an in-form horse who won over 2500m at Wagga last time. This is harder but his third placing to Socrates and King Of Spades at Randwick prior reads well.
(4) Bak Da Man E/W
$5.00/$2.00 (1 unit e/w)
