Its Cranbourne Cup Day on Saturday and a large crowd is expected to be on course for what is one of the best country Cup race days of the season.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 at the time of publication but I expect horses may be running on a Soft track with plenty of rain around the area on Thursday evening.
Race one gets underway at 12:35pm.
Cranbourne Racing Tips: Saturday November 12th
Best Bet: Race 3
(3) Kissinger for the Lindsay Smith & Damien Oliver combination is the pick after he flew home last start to just miss winning behind Port Phillip who is my second selection. He meets him 4.5 kg better at the weights this time and it doesn't matter if the track stays Good or turns to Soft, because he likes both.
He rises from 2400 to 2540m but the way that he has been running on his last couple, it shouldn't matter. The win two starts ago at Bendigo was excellent and Ollie was on that day too. Smith scratched him last week and the one month in between runs might work in his favour.
(1) Port Philip is the danger, and you can't fault him. Julius Sandhu has him flying but he will like a lot of rain and a Soft 6 or 7 on the day to win again.
(2) Nobel Heights should be ready to show his best after two runs this time in.
(4) Royal Crown is another who has a good chance if the ground is rated a Soft 6 or 7.
(3) Kissinger WIN
$2.40 (4 Units)
Next Best: Race 5
(5) She’s All Class has only won the one race, but the Maher & Eustace team have tried her in some very good races of late. This is easier and she does have the ability to go forward or back. Her last four races have been in Group company, and she did run a third behind Exceledia two starts back.
(3) Adele Amour has also been racing in harder company and she is better than what her last three starts suggest. She settles back now and will like it more if the track is Soft.
(4) Fortunate Kiss is another who is better than what the form guide says, and the stable deserves some luck with her.
(6) Cardigan Queen is the stablemate of the favourite, and she has placed twice second up before.
(5) She’s All Class WIN
$4.40 (2 Units)
Value Bet: Race 4
(7) Garza Blanca was scratched last week when the surface was a bit Heavy and is value here. He drops back to 1200m and will be strong late. He bolted in at Murtoa on debut and wasn't disgraced when unplaced behind Sandpaper last start. His stablemate (Greece) is better but there shouldn't be a huge discrepancy in the market between the two.
(4) Greece has also been scratched in preference to a drier track and has been ready to win for weeks after leading all of the way at Geelong last start (four lengths).
(3) Yowie will be another who will be strong late and is over the odds. She drops 1.5kg in weight with Allana Kelly on board which will help.
(6) Calico Jack will be on pace again like he did when he won at Cranbourne last start. He has been backed in all three starts this prep.
(7) Garza Blanca Each-way
$10.00/$2.70 (1 Unit)
Cranbourne Cup: Race 7
(9) Visinari is trained by Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr and has been freshened for this. He has been racing well over the mile in stronger company and will settle hand in around fourth position. Daniel Moor takes the ride and carrying 54.5kg is a bonus against some experienced racehorses.
(9) Visinari WIN
$5.00 (2 Units)
