Wednesday racing heads to Warwick Farm for another midweek meeting. This Wednesday meeting is a little bit special with a rare nine races on the card, including the running of the Gloaming Stakes which was postponed from Randwick last Saturday.
The weather looks to be clearing up a little in Sydney this week so the prospect of a drying track should see a great day of racing.
As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look at the meeting and has found his best bets for the day.
Warwick Farm Racing Tips: Wednesday October 12th
Race 1
Short and sweet but think we can cash in early here with (5) Divine Glory who was a very good run in the GImcrack on debut, finishing 3rd. The two that finished ahead of her that day now head the Golden Slipper markets. Should find a nice forward position in running today and will only need to hold her form to be winning this. Looks a nice option to get the maiden out of the way.
(3) Mexico worked really nicely in a recent trial with Tommy Berry in the saddle that day. He sticks for the ride today and the horse will wear blinkers on debut. Think he will be winning a race early in his career.
(6) Her Excellency is another who has trialled nicely and maps for all the favours here from gate four. I do think she is probably short enough in the early markets.
(4) Speedster could be the blowout.
(5) Divine Glory

Race 3
SCRATCHED - (12) Kazou will have all eyes on her as she steps out for a debut run off the back of some very impressive trial work. The first of those she was back on the fence and was picking them off in the straight under a tight hold before going to the lead in most recent and bolting in by 6. She clearly is exciting and I think the money will come for her! $4 at the moment looks a very fair price.
(15) Rhettara is another who has trialled really nicely and looks a decent value chance. She will have to get back from the barrier but if she has something cart her into the race then we might see her finish over the top of them.
(17) Pyrois started $1.50 on debut back in June off the back of four trial wins. He never seemed to travel that well throughout in the run and has looked good back at a recent trial. If we can get into the soft range by this stage I think he comes into the chances and you have to respect the SP Profile.
(3) Pereille should have won last start when stuck wide throughout and kept grinding away to run 2nd. From a better draw today he will get his chance and with race experience on his side he will be right in the finish.
(7) Tribeca Star keeps racing well and has been good finishing hard into the placings at his two runs to date. He will need luck from the wide gate but should be hard fit now and ready to peak.
Race 5
(8) Hollywood North was an eye catching run first up, hitting the line hard over 1400m. The last 200m was very good work and he will eat up the mile here with that run under the belt. The wet ground here will be no issues for him and he maps for a gun run with in form Jason Collett to do the riding. Looks hard to beat.
(6) Karmazoe is up in grade for this off a strong win with 61kg on his back first up. He’ll drop a stack in weight here carrying just 53kg after the apprentice claim. Should improve into this run and think he can feature in the finish.
(1) Mayfair Spirit will appreciate dropping back to the midweek after being well beaten at Moonee Valley in a race won by Military Expert. He was in great form before that run and will be up on speed and giving a good sight.
(2) Casino Mondial looks the value chance and has a good 2nd up record in favour.
(8) Hollywood North
$3.50 (2 units)
Race 8
(5) Sharp ‘N’ Smart dug deep to win first up back in New Zealand. Should strip fitter for that and he went within a nose of winning the JJ Atkins last time we saw him in Aus. He looks the big winner after the meeting on Saturday was moved to here. A drying surface puts him ahead of Williamsburg and should go very close to winning today.
Have to think (3) Williamsburg is going very well considering he comes into this after a dominant win in the Dulcify. I think he was better suited on a bottomless track on Saturday and while drawn widest, he will get back anyway and have the last shot at them. Up to 1800m now looks perfect.
(6) Matcha Latte ran a big 2nd to Golden Mile in the Ming Dynasty and has come back in terrific order. That horse has since won the Caulfield Guineas. Will need a good ride but the outside fence might be the best place to be.
(2) Promitto looks the big improver getting out to this sort of trip now. He is still very lightly raced and expect Nash gets the best out of him from the inside draw.
(5) Sharp 'N' Smart
$3.20 (1 unit)
