It’s another Wednesday which means some quality metro racing in Sydney. Warwick Farm will host a good seven race card and a promise of dry weather should see most horses get their chance.
As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look at the meeting and has found his best bets for the day.

Warwick Farm Racing Tips: Wednesday August 31st
Race 2
Think (6) Miss Hellfire should be a touch closer to the favourites in the market and looks set to improve 2nd up off a good return. That first up run was a good 5th in the Rosebud behind Zoukerino and Spacewalk. That sort of form looks handy enough for a midweek bm72 and this horse should improve rising in trip. Only career win came when 2nd up and she will just need the gaps to come at the right time from barrier 2.
(4) Roots is a smart type resuming for Jmac/Waller and has been scratched a couple of times before this. She’s unbeaten from two first up runs but I’m taking the chance she may need the run with bigger targets in mind this prep.
(5) Twilight Affair has the race fitness and comes into this off a good 2nd up win leading all the way at Canterbury. She’s getting up in the weights now and I’m not sure she gets everything her own way here.
(1) Kedah can run a race at a big price and think he’s one you may want to throw in for the exotics.
(6) Miss Hellfire
$4.40 (1 unit)
Race 5
I like (4) Atmosphere being kept on the fresh side for this and arrives down in Sydney off two good runs this prep. He jumped out well before winning a handy maiden at Geelong. He then finished 2nd to a smart horse in Grand Impact who is well-favoured to win some G1s in the Spring. This looks a very winnable race for him.
(1) Eponymous looked good winning on debut when not having the best of luck in running. Quickly put away and has trialled up well for a return. The 3kg off for Gibbons will suit a horse who rolls forward.
(6) Insurrection was well-liked on debut off the back off two winning trials and just felt the pinch late to run 2nd. Should take plenty of improvement into this and should be winning another race soon. The barrier could be a touch sticky.
(2) Fire And Ice looked to be in for a big prep after a dominant fresh win but has been just plain at last two. Well back in grade for this and I think he should be ready to show something 4th up.
(4) Atmosphere
$5.00 (1 unit)
Race 6
Pretty keen on the resuming (1) Nasturtium who draws the favourable barrier 1 with a 3kg claim, ticking plenty of boxes. This horse was dominant across first three starts before tackling a hot bm78 where he started $5.50 against Mazu. He’s been trialling well and I think he can go on to win better races than this as he improves into his 2nd preparation.
(5) Ebhaar probably the other horse in this race who can match it with the favoruite on her day. She’s still very lightly raced and had been trialling the house down before a disappointing 5th down at Caulfield. Back up to Sydney could be the key.
Back to 1000m suits (2) Not Another Reiby who has a great record at this trip. He’s third up and hard fit now, puts himself in a prominent position and has a likeable racing pattern.
(8) Super Bright gets her chance in metro company and has shown talent at two career runs. Stable have taken their time with her and she is sure to to be competitive.
(1) Nasturtium
$2.15 (3 units)
Race 7
(12) Think About It has looked the part at two career wins to date and did it with ease on both occasions. The way he travels in the run and racing manners are very impressive for a horse of such little experience. There is still so much improvement to come with him. Gets a nice middle draw where he can race with cover and follow something into the straight. Expect he is too good for these.
(4) Neutron comes to Sydney off some good trials and has been competitive in some decent enough races up in QLD. This is toughest test to date but they must think he is going well enough to be a chance here.
(11) The Himalayas rises in grade off a narrow defeat at Hawkesbury. He’d won two on the bounce before that and defied a market drift to run well there at his last run. Races well over 1300m and could be a chance to fill a placing.
(9) Capo Strada has been gelded and that could be the making of him. Has always shown ability and won well when first up last time in work. A recent trial was a really strong piece of work.
(12) Think About It
$2.50 (2.5 units)
