NBL Round 3 Betting Tips
Perth Wildcats vs Brisbane Bullets
Friday 9:30pm AEDT, RAC Arena
The Wildcats were on the wrong end of an overtime thriller in their most recent outing against the Bullets. Bryce Cotton’s radar from deep was off for the majority of the night and while Vic Law was strong with 29 points, it just wasn’t enough. The Wildcats will now hit the road for the first time this season with a solid 2-1 record under their belts.
The Bullets were firing on all cylinders against the Wildcats and that’s exactly what’s required if you’re to win at RAC Arena. The three-headed monster of Nathan Sobey, Lamar Patterson and Robert Franks combined for 67 of their 97 points, which is a theme that is likely to continue going forward. The Bullets are now 1-1 on the season and will have an easier fixture to come.
These teams will be meeting for the second time in a week and we certainly aren’t complaining after what they dished up last time. In terms of a result, it’s near impossible to see the talented Wildcats dropping two in a row at home to the same team, especially if Bryce Cotton plays somewhere closer to his best. We expect them to cover the small spread here.

Sydney Kings vs S.E. Melbourne Phoenix
Saturday 5:30pm AEDT, Qudos Bank Arena
The Kings were outplayed in their most recent game at home against the Hawks where they lost by eight points. It was an expected result considering all the key outs for their side at the moment, with Dejan Vasiljevic and Jaylen Adams the headliners. At the time of writing the Kings are looking like going down big to United on Thursday night, which certainly isn’t an ideal way to start their three-match round.
The Phoenix secured a gritty win against Melbourne United in an epic edition of the Throwdown last weekend, which was a contest that went viral around the globe for a number of reasons. That win was already their third for the season from as many games, which is why they’re top of the ladder as we enter a very busy and likely chaotic Round 4.
Initially when we were looking at this fixture, we thought the Kings may have a slight edge with this being on their home deck, but their performance on Thursday night coupled with the news of Jaylen Adams being sidelined for a few more games made us swing towards the Phoenix here. They’re flying high after a confidence-boosting win in the Throwdown and should be able to repeat the dose against the Kings on Saturday night.
S.E. Melbourne Phoenix -2.5

Cairns Taipans vs Adelaide 36ers
Saturday 8pm AEDT, Cairns Convention Centre
The Taipans recorded their first win of their campaign last weekend when they hosted the JackJumpers in Cairns. Despite losing their superstar in Scott Machado early in the game, the Snakes were able to grind it out in a very low-scoring affair. Tahjere McCall continued his impressive start with his new team and will need to keep it up with Machado now set to miss up to six weeks.
The 36ers have had the busiest schedule of any team in the league so far having already completed four games. Most recently they overcame a huge deficit at home against the Breakers to eventually win by double-figures thanks to a very good performance from Dusty Hannahs. The 36ers are now 2-2 on the season which seems fair considering the talent on their roster.
Neither team has set the world on fire with their start to NBL22 but both enter this round in winning form. Consistency on the offensive end has been the big issue for both teams in the early going, which leads us to believe this has high potential to be a low-scoring contest. With that said, we’re more than happy to be playing the unders here.
