Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday September 7th 2024

September 6th 2024, 1:10pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Moonee Valley Racing Tips

The popular Group 1 Moir Stakes will highlight racing in Victoria on Saturday with the 1000m Sprint coming up in race nine on the Moonee Valley program.

The first Saturday race meeting of Spring gets underway at 12:10pm (AEST), with the last race starting at 5:25pm (AEST). Despite a little rain around, the track should stay a Good 4.

Check out Brendan Bunworth’s best bets for Moonee Valley below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free racing tips this weekend!

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, September 7th 2024

Race 3 - Powerflo Solutions Handicap - 1:15pm AEST

(10) Nails Murphy gets a good drawn in barrier 2 and he drops 3kg after running 3rd at The Valley on August 24. He will want the track to stay in the Good range and despite not having won a race in 15 months, he is suited by the distance and the weight relief. Jamie Kah rides for the first time and she should position him up in around 4th position in the run. It does look as though he gets the run of the race here.

(9) Regal Zeus has also drawn well (3) and will position up just in front of Nails Murphy I reckon. Dan Stackhouse has won 3 times from 6 starts on the Gelding but he may go better on wetter ground. If there is a track downgrade then he becomes a winning chance.

(8) La Zebra has drawn a bit wide in 10 and will want the rain to stay around. Damien Lane has won on him before and gets the ride again.

(10) Nails Murphy (E/W)

$4.50/$1.80 (1u/2u e/w)

Race 9 - Moir Stakes Group 1 - 4:50pm AEST

(8) Lady Of Camelot will probably lead the Moir from barrier 2 and with a suitable Dry track, she might just lead all of the way. Zac Lloyd takes the ride for the Waterhouse & Bott Team and the Golden Slipper winner of 2024 has won previously when first up. She has trialled twice leading into this on rain affected ground and the firmer surface should be ideal. The three-year-old has just 50kg to carry which is 9kg down from her Group2 Percy Stakes 2nd.

(6) Estriella loves Good tracks and will also go forward from barrier 8. She has won 2 from 2 when first up and Blake Shinn is 3 from 3 on top. In the Sansgter Stakes on April 27, she tried to lead all of the way but got tired for 5th but she did have to come from  wide barrier (11) on that occasion.

(1) I Wish I Win is probably the best horse in the race but he has never raced at The Valley before which is a query. Luke Nolen rides for Moody & Coleman and he has won 4 times on the six-year-old gelding. He ticks a lot of boxes and he has never been out of the top 3 when first up.

(8) Lady Of Camelot

$3.20 (1 unit)

Race 10 - Ladbrokes Racing Club Handicap - 5:25pm AEST

(6) Verdad ran on well for a good 4th in the Group 2 Alistair Clark before he went out for a spell, and despite having never raced over this distance before, reports are that he is quick over it. He trialled well on August 26 and the Griffiths & De Kock Team have a high opinion of this gelding. Jye McNeil knows him pretty well so will know when to push his buttons over the 1200m. WIll then obviously go up in distance during the Spring Carnival. If he is right to go, he wins.

(8) Miss Aria has made good ground in her races previously and can win with the right run. The consistent mare is racing well but i’m not sure where she gets to from barrier 8. Has placed twice over the 1200m and sees The Valley for the first time.

(1) Superazi has placed on 61% of his career starts so can place at nice odds here. He has placed on 5 occasions over the 1200m and he likes The Valley. Ran on well for 2nd here on August 26 and he gets a claim for Taylah Childs.

(6) Verdad

$4.00 (2 units)
